Assail

Ok. near the end of MT, Bugg and the Errant were talking about Iron Bars, and we find out he and his squad survived Assail. Does that mean there are still Forkys on Assail, or is it just a rougher continent, bred to deal with the Forkys? Discuss.

Forkys as in Forkrul Assail?
Anyway, we know from MoI that the Tyrants on Assail are humans, and they are beating two whole T'lan Imass armies!!

Beating? More like beaten. My theory is the Tyrant armies vastly outnumber the Imass, have those magic swords that seem to work well against them in large numbers, and use either Elder or Hold magic or similar effectiveness to Tellann. At the very least.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Err, so we agree? The human tyrants, and their armies are kicking the **** out of the T'lan Imass?

Pretty much. I'm just thinking of it in past tense, that's all.

I don't think there's any Assail on that continent... But obviously something funny's going on there... ^^

I wonder if this will become an important part of the story, or is just a nifty bit of world building. Or possibly it's something ICE will cover in his books.

I'd think it's something ICE will cover, considering that RotCG will happen in on Assail... won't it?

I thought ROTCG was on Quon Tali? I thought they were taking UNta back or that was there aim. If so then theyll run into that army after the Wickans or maybe use that as a cover to take Unta. Seems like ICe will have a fair few known characters in hisa book. Hell have TEmul and co along with the CGRD and whoever else is in Unta.

Interesting thread.
I'd love to know whats going on with the Imass on Assail, and what the Crimson Guard are up to. If ICE did a book on that, it would be great.
Help me out here though. What is the ROTCG?

I would've thought it'd be a good while while 'til we hear about Assail, I dont think it'll be in RotCG, and that's not out 'til next year IIRC, meaning yet another year after that.
Keep us in suspense, ICE and SE you cunning devils, you.

Ever since the brief mention of Assail in MOI from that one Imass I've been dying to know whats going on at that place. 3 books later and all I get are more hints that it is an exciting place to be. Well maybe not for the soldiers there, but nonetheless I can't wait for a book covering this place.

I can imagine that, given the power of the few lone FA we've seen so far, that the continent they possibly live on/evolved on is, like Obdigore said earlier, a much tougher place with more powerful creatures (if human tyrants can gain ascendancy). So if the Imass are getting decimated, it's not so surprising (but still a bloody good fight to read about I'd imagine!

Personally, I don't think the creatures on Assail will be too different from other continents. Sure, some unique creature, but nothing too different...

i think its a race weve met but havnt brought into the equation. It could be human army but in the millions. i know probably the most boring scenario but still possible

We already know that the fight between the Imass and Race X on Assail is really Imass vs Human. This information was given to us in Memories of Ice itself...so why are we debating it?

Because some people love to read stuff that isn't there. Hell, one guy was curious about what "Lord of High Diction" in BH meant.
