As a fellow countrywoman of the band, I've listened to it since Battle Metal, and, well...I didn't like this new development. The album felt really disjointed and tired. The previous masterpieces had a clear story to tell, now even the title suffers from a lack of coherence. Turisas2013? Really? What happened to Finnish vikings journeying to Byzantium or stomping into battle guided by their war god? Epic multilingual songs such as Rexi Regi Rebellis? Well, all bands do have their downs (Didn't much like Korpiklaani's Karkelo either, but Manala was one perkeleenmoinen romp); waiting to see if they improve by the time of the next installment...
I think it feels like they had some good tracks and they were kind of due to release another album, so they threw one together and out it went. Again, I do like the tracks that are on it but it doesn't feel like a complete, polished album to me. It feels half-hearted.
I'll listen to and enjoy it, along with their older stuff, nevertheless but, hopefully, the next release will be a return to form.
I'll leave you with this one:
The love I bear thee can afford no better term than this: thou art a villain.

I spent most of yesterday night listening to Metric remixes. Among my favourites was this:
And so the First denied their Mother,
in their fury, and so were cast out,
doomed children of Mother Dark.

Re: Turisas, they just blew my mind with Viking Epicness in Manchester. So they rule and I will pillage anyone who disagrees with me.

A long-shipper of cheesy, yecchy Viking romance, among other things.
Glad to hear Turisas pulled out a great concert, though!
In other news, Kiuas is breaking up.

3 gigs in 3 days - knackering at my age.
Johnny Marr - homecoming to Manchester - just brilliant
Bowling for Soup - the farewell tour - good fun in its way
Wilko Johnson - just awesome - the guy is going to go out playing it his way - probably the last time I will see him play live, and great to see Norman Watt Roy (bassist from the Blockheads) having a great time as well. He will be missed.
And still got Peter Gabriel reprising So and Wishbone Ash in the next 2 weeks

This made me think about the cart inside Dragnipur. I don't know if it's been posted yet, since the thread is a too big to check everything
Anyway I really like this and the whole band is awesome. I think their fifth and final album is their best.

Aaaaa pyhä Perkele what a joint concert last night with Dark Tranquillity and Omnium Gatherum! DT apparently started their new World Construct tour in this flyspeck of a city in the middle of prowling bears and the ever-darkness of the kvlt, frostb1tten North (albeit that it seems more soggy and rainb1tten now...).
Icelandic Sólstafir last week performed a lamer show in front of a sparser, unenthusiastic audience. Then again, Kiuas soared past all concepts of epicness in Helsinki a fortnight back; I'm sad to see that band gone. It got very uncomfortable in the sold-out, cramped corners of Nosturi during the three-something hours, though; 900 people and pyrotechnics, no proper air conditioning. D:
Aaaaand missing Amon Amarth and Wardruna this year. Both in Helsinki, on Monday nights, and cannot resemble a sleep-deprived zombie during the following days at work.

An excellent cover - or reinvention I should say - of a fairly ordinary original dance track from the 90s.
The video is quite good too.

For the Tori Amos fans in the house (I've been a fan since I was 16...she saved my teenage years from the horrors of my parents divorce)...here are four tracks from the score to the musical she wrote all the music and lyrics to THE LIGHT PRINCESS (showing in London's West End).
And I don't mind saying that this is like a heartline directly to 1990's era Tori. I'm am in love with this, and can't wait for the score to come out so I can get my grubby hands on it.
