Does This Offend You, Yeah? - Attack of the 60ft Lesbian Octopus
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Read the article and then watch all 3 clips, then sigh in disappointment as hipsters try to sell you on glorified whiny whalesong as this years' Big Thing.

Admittedly it's from an Aussie perspective, but the idea of a whole new genre based around MGMT (along with the Black Eyed Peas arguably the most over-rated groups of the last few years) is just depressing.

:)

I hate people's obsession with MGMT. It's the same with Muse. People make them out to be the greatest bands ever, when they're really not.

That article depressed me too... As if the "next big thing" is going to last longer than two songs that people rave about for a couple of months each and then move onto the next "next big thing"... Happens so many freaking times...

And if 2009 is remembered by Lady Gaga, I'm telling any future kids I have that I was stoned the whole time and didn't notice it go by... :)

Karnivool - Themata

It's a shame their newer album is so inferior to this one.

Really? Interesting. I love Sound Awake, I think it has a lot more of a downtuned (more leaning towards metal) kind of sound. A bit more atmospheric maybe, or perhaps just a different type of atmosphere. Plus you cannot argue with the epic brilliance of All I Know.

But I think you might be right in the sense that overall Themata is a better album. :)

I actually think Sound Awake is just as good as Themata. They're different sounds, and I think they pull them both off spectacularly.

Karnivool - The Caudal Lure

I wish I could play that song on drums. Must learn...must...

Tbh I haven't given Sound Awake a real thorough listening, but I just find more of the exciting "ear-catching" songs on Themata.

I just like the fact that they have taken the sound in a different direction instead of basing it all on the formula of Themata.
