Awwww, this Ed Sheeran song that is riding the crest of pop radio this summer really hits me in all the feels. I mean, we all have mates from school that we've lost touch with, only to hear about where and what they are doing now, right? Some are successful, some have hit a hard patch, some have just flat out dropped out of site. Oh the feels this song invokes.Posted Image

* disclaimer, I'm not the biggest Ed Sheeran fan, but this song has that certain something that makes me listen.

Dayum! What kind of clairvoyant powers do I have!? The same day I post the video above, Ed Sheeran appears on GOT (which I did not know was going to happen Posted Image) singing the following little ditty.

And then even scarier, my post in the Poo thread rings eerily similar to Sam's job of cleaning the maesters' chamber pots. Posted Image

And just like that, my will to watch it dies

I'm blaming Apt for getting this stuck back in my head. Im curious what version people like better of Hurt? NIN or Johnny Cash? Cash will be played at my funeral so my pick is obvious. So many of these lyrics fit me personally with my stupid body condition and the pills have to take to make myself walk every day and the ending is spot on..if I could start again. This song can make me emotional quick depending on my pain lvl.

Love the Cash version, but my personal pick would be NIN simply because that is how I got to know the song. Two very different beasts, though.
Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

Interesting angle, by the way. How many people here have ever thought about the music they would choose on their funeral? Seems a bit morbid, but I'm sure we've all thought about it at some point or other (angsty teenager phase alert!). Maybe it should have its own topic ;)

I have some ideas for my own funeral, but they do change over time. I've considered or currently am considering:
'Pyramid Song' by Radiohead
'Hope' by Anathema
'Galaxy Song' by Monthy Python
'The inevitable end' by De Staat
'I'll take you' by De Staat
'Meet the devil' by De Staat
'Instant Street' by dEUS
'Easy' by dEUS

I'd want 'Into The Everblack' by The Black Dahlia Murder, tbh.

Oh man, not sure what is going on, but I'm really digging on a lot of the hits that are on pop radio. The Justin Bieber collab latin song, Ed Sheeran and now Kendrick Lamar.
And believe me guys, I normally am not a fan of anything remotely that is on the pop charts. Maybe it's been this long, hot summer that has made me daft for the stuff, dunno.

Anyway. Here is Kendrick Lamar's Humble. You at least have to appreciate it for being the only rap song to incorporate the word "per diem", right? Which as someone who has often traveled on business (on the company's) dime, I can appreciate.Posted Image

Going through some old 65daysofstatic albums. No matter how many times I come back to these albums, I love them so much.

65daysofstatic, neat. Sheffield band! One of the band members did his Maths PhD around the same time as my wife so she knew him quite well.

That's them! Seen them live a few times (including a pretty immense gig in Manchester Cathedral) and they always impress me mightily.

And now, for a cover that no one asked for, but that we all certainly needed!!!

That's awful.
Gotta be honest, LP are pretty high on my personal list of worst bands ever, so I was never attached to the dude, but depression is a devastator that doesn't discriminate, and taking out this harmless, seemingly nice guy really sucks. Reading the Early Life section of his wiki is actually pretty rough, and then I was reminded he was actually Weiland's replacement in STP the past few years, so this must be doubly awful for those guys.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Hey, this is eerily similar to the soundtrack for "The Social Network" Posted ImagePosted Image

[EDIT] Oh snap! I forgot the disclaimer, gotta always include the disclaimer when posting something by NIN: And I don't really even like NIN.

LINKIN PARK was always around for me when I was feeling shitty. I loved most of their albums.

So sad.

Also, Chester was like best friends with Cornell, sang Hallelujah at his funeral a couple of weeks back, and took his own life on what would have been Cornell's 53rd birthday...all of which makes me think, Chester was in a dark place after his friend passed away.

EDIT:

Oh gods, this takes on new meaning now.

Steady your ears for pure bliss, Malazanites!

I didn't think The War on Drugs could outdo "Lost in the Dream", but damn! "A Deeper Understanding" very well may be better than or at least its equal. It still requires a few more listens, but gods, it's excellent!

First track from Tori's new album.

http://www.npr.org/s...-upcoming-album

I've never been a big fan of guitars in her songs. I like the simple "red haired girl with the piano" best...so these more produced tracks are kind of bittersweet for me. I like them fine enough, but I dunno if they will ever affect me on the level that her piano-backed LE, UTP, and BFP stuff still does.

It's Musikfest time in Bethlehem, PA (today through 8/13).

More bands than you can shake a stick at. All but the major headliners are free shows.

http://www.musikfest.org/

Ticketed shows are:
Santana
Chicago
Father John Misty
Live
Aloe Blacc
Godsmack
Toby Keith
The Band Perry
The American Made Tour
Jethro Tull (no Martin, but Ian's there...)

I didn't get tickets for any of the headliners this year.
