I've been to CERN on a physics trip and somebody asked whether that would happen when they tried to find the Higgs Boson in the new accelerator. What a dunce. It's a huge thing though, and the amount of construction going on was unbelievable. The woman scientist taking us round did comment though that they were a little worried about not finding it, because theyd have to question their entire theory. Be interesting to see what happens.

Well, how can they be certain this experiment should show it? Perhaps we're not nearly advanced enough to detect it. Or perhaps the theory is somehow a bit off. Not finding it does not invalidate the theory, IMO. But they might come up with a different theory that also confirms the experiments, we did in the past.

Since when? The latest National Geographic has talked about it and so has Scientific american and they haven't mentionned any discovery of the Higgs Bosson. That's why LHC is so important. They've discovered other bossons, but not Higgs.

I was involved in a debate in college concerning this subject, and just grew weary of the "Creationist" I was facing and their tactics.

This whole debate is pointless to me because to believe any holy book's story of creation is to blatantly ignore anything scientific.

I was merely adding fuel to the fire with that quote.

That having been said however, I am a firm believer in both evolution and creation respectively.

No one can deny the existence of evolution. It is a fact. Life forms do evolve, either to a better state..or as humans have shown to a worse state

However to suggest that life on earth was formed via the theories of evolution and I repeat “theories” is all together absurd.

The absolute delicate balance in which every life form exists is not a balance which can be stuck randomly..you can throw never ending scientific technical lingo at me all you like

Bottom line is …and this bottom line which is mostly ignored is that the evolution theory is just that..a theory

The ardent pursuit of this theory by some scientists who are almost too eager to prove its validity is most alarming, as it does take on a rather fanatical tone. Is not science a study based on fact removed from emotion?

Science however at this point in time of our collective evolution cannot prove that life on Earth was initiated via a series of random occurrences

I choose to believe a force..be it god..be it santa or whomever you choose, gave us that initial nudge ..set things in motion and then from that initial creation …the evolution of the species started to take place …
