I'm late to the game it seems. I've read the first three books, and colour me impressed.

I'll probably finish all the books by next monday, but at the moment Iam enjoying reading them slow. What I love most about it is the PI bit ... I am a suckerfor PI novels, I need to get me some more.

Maybe Richard Morgan?

Morgan is great, but completely different from the Dresden books.

I'll throw out again what I said at the start - Mike Carey's Felix Castor series. He's an exorcist rather than a wizard, but it's very similar in tone to the Dresden books.
I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

Yes, yes.. More Butcherites! my evil plan is taking full effect buahahaha oh.... Your reading this?

Love this Series!! of course all book's bow before the might of deadbeat! Afterall what is better than reading a book about evil malicous(haha sp!) bad guys attackin jus when the Hero's back is turned then thinking of an ingenius(sp!) plan to Kill the evil ones get the girl and save the world! Of course Harrry's plan only manages to Save chicago.. Ahh Spoiler!?!?!? I have need's of assistance! Block of Text Crits you for 13,136 dmg you die! How do I make the great black spoiler Screen?

Anywayz.. Codex Alera... Jim's other series Totally freaking..... AWESOME! The first book is a little slow but once you get done with it.... #2 leaves you hangin #3 Makes you remember GRRM aFfC and considering Killing the author for his evil cliffhangies! also.. this series just gets Better and BETTer and BETTER! with each reread you figure more out about the char's ect.. at least that's how it was for me..

Well I had better stop writing now 'less this turns into a Novella about the novels...

Just finished Proven Guilty and have 2 opinions I would like to share

1. dresden and co drink there beers really fast They would have to be chugging them faster then an underage freshman or the just are not very talkative...I guess it takes a true drunk to notice this

2. Blackstaff Mccoy is part of the black council....it just fits to well like how he told dresden not to tell anyone about there discovery blaca blaca blaca
plus Dresden falls under Murphy's Law so that seems to me like the next it will fall in place and help shatter his poor little world... when he finds out he will prehaps be driven over the edge and go on a killing spree??

well thats just my two opinions so far...im about to start White night
You can't find me because I'm lost in the music

Two bumps:

1. caught up on the last few eps of the TV series last week. By caught up mean - fast fwd'd thru most. Left me utterly nonplussed. Underplussed. Deplussed, even. Predictable, porly acted, yawn yawn kill me make it stop yawn worthy. Finale was cut off half-way thru and i did not care.

2. On the bright side, SMALL FAVORS now listed for April 2008 release! YAY!

- Abyss, plots series reread in early 08.

Have any of you guys read Charles Stross' The Atrocity Archives and The Jennifer Morgue? They strike this reader as being something likeThe Dresden Files, but for grown ups...
If an opinion contrary to your own makes you angry, that is a sign that you are subconsciously aware of having no good reason for thinking as you do. If some one maintains that two and two are five, or that Iceland is on the equator, you feel pity rather than anger, unless you know so little of arithmetic or geography that his opinion shakes your own contrary conviction. … So whenever you find yourself getting angry about a difference of opinion, be on your guard; you will probably find, on examination, that your belief is going beyond what the evidence warrants. I watched half the pilot of the TV series. Couldn't be bothered with the rest.

Also I have not found 'White Night' in any bookstore anywhere...
