As long as it gets read I don't really care where I put it. :)
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. I'm unsure how i feel about Crabtree, now that he's signed. I really want the 49ers to do well cos of Mike Singletary and his no nonsense attitude, so i should obviously hope that Craptree comes in and does really well (to help the team out).

But, on the other hand, I'm so sick of these prima-dona players making demands when they haven't achieved anything, that i want him to struggle badly to put him in his place.

They really need to introduce some kind of rookie wage cap, to stop this stupidity happening in the future. I mean, you have teams killing their salary cap to sign untried rookies, and the knock-on effect is more proven players then being less able to get good money.

At least in the NBA, no matter how good a player is, they're still restricted to a rookie salary, and then at least when they've done something, they can earn the silly money.

Well, as a Colts fan (we tend to draft well and at the end of rounds), I like the fact that teams blow lots of money on untested draft picks. Makes it easier to beat them. :)

The difference with football is that odds are they are only going to get one contract, so they need as good of one as they can get. Do I think the rookies are paid too much? Yes. Am I worried about it? No. I'm worried about an uncapped NFL.

I'm still not completely clear on what an uncapped year would mean. Would it just be that the rich teams get the best players (i.e like proper football)?

There are certain precautions that would be put in place to stop that, but once the NFL goes uncapped, it'll be pretty impossible to close Pandora's Box and re-cap it.

Teams could franchise two players and other deals that would keep teams from buying all the best talent, but in the end, yes, small markets like Indianapolis would be as disadvantaged as they are in baseball or the EPL.

The Jets gave up Stuckey? The guy I hated because he kept taking catches from Cotchery?

Edwards was good in 2007 (although I liked Winslow better that year), but he's 2 years older and I don't think he's done so well this year with the Browns. They had a good deal in Stuckey...why give him up?

Edwards was a pro bowl player, Stuckey was their #2. Why NOT give up Stuckey? Jets got the better in that deal, regardless of whether or not Cleveland gets the 3rd rounder.

Eh. Well, the Browns more or less threw away the slightest hope of recovering their season. I suppose I'm just a little bitter about even more competition for cotchery. :p

I'm looking at the Rams, and I feel sorry for them - they're so close to becoming a top, top team. All they need is a QB, an O-line, a D-line, a secondary and some special teams, and they'd be there!

EDIT: Oh, and some WRs too. Plus a kicker couldnt hurt.

I agree, I guess you think their punter is pretty good :)

It's amazing this year how many truly horrendous team there are.

Just watching some of the highlights on the nfl.com website, and i must say i really enjoyed the Broncos-Patriots result. I love seeing good coaching and organisation accomplish so much so soon. When you have a defense that was a disaster, and an offense that loses it franchise QB, manage to start 5-0, it says a lot for the staff as well as the players.
Compare that to the consistent underachievement of the Cowboys, and Redskins in recent years, despite all their money, and the signing of marquee players.

For that reason too i'm really hoping that the Chargers have another disaster of a season. I can't forgive them for the way they treated Marty Schottenheimer a few years ago after he built up a formidable team, and got pushed out early because of a clash of ego's with the GM AJ Smith. Norv Turner. Really? And now AJ is calling out the players as soft. Hope it all comes down on his head.

As for my Bears, I'm hoping the bye week has allowed our injuries to heal, and we can come out strong next week and try to stifle the Flacons after their monster showing this week.

Word.

I'm impressed with them Broncos. I've watched their game the last two weeks and that defense is just impressive. I dont know how, considering they didnt change much, but they are.

And Knowshon is gonna be a stud eventually.

That team with horseshoes on their helmets is pretty decent.

Ruh-Ro, Shaggy.

The Colts owner, Jim Irsay, just outright stated he wouldn't vote for Rush Limbaugh if he was part of an ownership attempt for the Rams. That's not going to play real well here, and quite frankly, I don't want to give other teams fan-bases a reason to despise the Colts because they are Rush fans.

Lol. This is going to cause a shitstorm.

Lol. Rush could conceivably perform at Lucas Oil Stadium, Bubba. :)

Poor Rams, so close to a win, and then fell flat on their faces at the end. Steven Jackson is allergic to scoring TDs I swear, I make that 0 despite getting over 100 all purpose yards practically every game.
