Re: Colts LBs

As for the person who said that Manning was top 10 QB: I agree. I am completely biased and think he is one of the greatest quarterbacks ever. But, it isn't the pass game that wins in the playoffs. I know this. I've seen it the past 6 years when the Colts one 12 games each regular season and then got shut down in the playoffs. With Clark, Wayne, and Manning locked up the Colts potential play-action pass capabilities are absolutely enormous with a running attack that is dominant.

The Colts just got unlucky. As I mentioned above, I am a big Charger fan. However, I can admit that the Colts got screwed. They should have got the Chargers at home with a better record, and if they win that coin flip, there is no doubt that Manning takes them down the field for a score and win. I don't know that the Colts are really missing all that much. Manning is one of the top 5 QBs to ever play, and even as a fan of an opposing team, you can't help but love the guy.

Also, I don't know that the Colts match up well with the Chargers. The ideal scenario would have been for the Colts to get the Dolphins and let the Ravens play the Chargers. It's kind of like New England is with San Diego, we just don't match up well. If the Colts would have ended up winning that game, I would not have been surprised at all to see them win the Superbowl. I don't think that it's that their passing game is not built for the playoffs, I think they just need to avoid playing San Diego.

If Indy was going into Pitt this week wouldn't you feel pretty confident, after the beat down you put on them in Pitt earlier in the year? If they would have won that coin flip, I wouldn't have been surprised at all if they ran the table.

I'm just waiting for Peyton to retire and get into movies. You can't tell me you wouldn't want to see him in a comedy or two :p

on a side note, my buckeyes completely blew it.

Who's got playoff picks?

Slum's stone cold locks - Pittsburgh and Carolina

I'll also take the Giants and Ravens (going out on a limb picking Baltimore, but they should make mincemeat out of Collins).

Okay, give me the Steelers over Chargers. Their defense is far superior to the Colts and the Chargers aren't going to enjoy Heinz.

Titans over Ravens. Their d-line will come to play and Joe Flacco isn't going to have anytime to throw the ball at all. This will be close and I think both teams will scored under 17 points. I'm going Titans due to homefield.

I don't know the NFC that well. Philadelphia over the Giants... their defense is going to get on Peyton's lil bro.
And, Carolina over Zona ftw!

Philly could very well beat the Giants. Plaxico is a big game player, and a deep threat - without him, I wonder if Eli has enough targets. Of course, if Ward and Bradshaw have another big game it won't matter.

I think the Ravens have Collins's number. Don't know why...call me sentimental - Ravens destroyed Collins in the Giants/Ravens Superbowl.

Carolina hasn't lost at home all year. I doubt their gonna fold to Warner and his dilapidated corps.

Chargers and Steelers is the game I'm most interested in, though. Pitt's got a killer D, but Big Ben's had a concussion and hasn't been throwing. Rivers and co. might have the fickle, losers-win playoff fates on their side...

Should be a fun weekend for NFL fans

I never thought, as a Colts fan, that I could hate a team more than the Patriots. San Diego is rapidly challenging that brash assumption after these last two years.

Knowing our predictions, Arizona is probably going to go apeshit and blitzkrieg Carolina forcing them out of their running game! Just to make us all look stupid. :p

Eli has not been playing very well this season. There's a very clear gap opening up between him and Rivers, which makes the Manning-Rivers trade look like a bust a few years down the line. I know the Giants won the title, but honestly, Rivers is a much better quarterback right now than Manning.

This is so weird to say - as a NY sports fan.

I'll never forgive the Chargers for ending our (talkin' to fellow Colts fans here) perfect season. We've beaten the Pats when it counted...

But, to add insult to injury, the Chargers keep embarrassing us. I hate them.

The Pats' time as head of the pack is gone - their key components are old and/or retired (Brady is, of course, a factor). They have no great position players, do they? They don't have a desirable draft position after the spygate debacle...

Chargers have continually had Indy's number. I want San Diego to meet a most embarrassing playoff demise...

And, unfortunately, the Chargers are only going to get better when Merriman returns...

Did I mention I hate the fucking Chargers?

I was at that game. :p More happily, I was also at the AFCCG two years ago when we put the Pats to bed.

In the playoffs no less! 3-4 defenses are just a match-up nightmare for us, and I don't know how they haven't been able to rectify that after all these years of the Colts-Pats/Colts-Bolts matchups.

Don't be so quick my friend. They went 11-5 this year SANS Brady. They have Moss & Welker at WR, both top talents, they are slowly rebuildling the D with the Defensive Rookie of the Year in Jerrod Mayo set to be in their defense for a while, along with Adadlius Thomas who is quite young. They'll have a top 16 pick this year as they didn't make the playoffs, and this draft is looking like it oculd be very deep with underclassmen coming out of the woodworks.

I wouldn't mind punching Rivers in the face. That guy is a D-BAG of teh highest quality, yapping at Indy fans last year. What an aforementioned.... D-Bag.

It's not the 3-4 defense that bothers the Colts. It's just that the defenses encountered in the playoffs are frequently very good to elite. It matters not whether 3-4 or 4-3 or hybrid.

Really? Ok, let's examine (this is out of memory)

2003 -

Beat: Broncos & Chiefs, both 4-3 defense.
Lose: Patriots 3-4 defense

2004 -

Beat: Broncos, 4-3 defense
Lose: Patriots, 3-4 defense

2005 -

Lose: Pittsburgh, 3-4 defense

2006 -

Beat: Chiefs (4-3), Ravens (3-4), Patriots (3-4), Bears (4-3)

2007 -

Lose: San Diego (3-4)

2008 -

Lose San Diego (3-4)

I find it extremely strange that the only time the Colts didn't lose a playoff game to a 3-4 defense to exit the off-season is the only time they've won a Super Bowl. 5 out of 6 is not merely better defense, it is a trend. Any Colts fan will tell you that Peyton struggles with a 3-4 defense because he has a harder time recognizing where the 4th and 5th blitzer are coming from. They will also note that 3-4 blitzes tend to get a far better interior pass-rush, i.e. directly in Peyton's face, than other 4-3 pass-rushes.

After watching the games Saturday i have new found respect for the Cardinals, but what the hell was Panthers thinking.
That was probarly the worst playoff effort i have ever seen from any team.

I liked the Panthers this year even with a weak QB but OMFG was Delhomme bad. I just cant believe it.

Ravens won ..... tell me again how the Titans managed to lose that game. I am still stunned by that and i had the Ravens as my favorit before the game.

Ravens had some injuries and players starting hurt and that was a rough game. can they get ready for next round and have any chance?

OK, Delhomme should be immediately canned for that wretched attempt at being a pro QB. My lord, if that wasn't the one of single worst playoff performances by a QB in playoff history, I don't know what was. I don't think Panthers fans are going to be very forgiving - 5 INTs and fumble? Garbage. Straight garbage.

And Fitzgerald made fools out of the Panthers secondary.

Now, I picked Carolina because of their 8-0 home record and all the hype, but I'd never actually seen one of their games this season. I'd seen the Cards play, and was not impressed. Well, last night impressed me.

I love watching underdogs kick the shit out of favorites. I imagine many people lost their shirts betting on that game.

Still, you won't find me picking the Cards over either the Giants or the Eagles next week. Maybe that's the way they like it though - they can Rodney Dangerfield it up in the locker room....

I had Delhomme in my playoff fantasy team. Wow, what a bad move. He was just APALLING. The ravens result didnt surprise me, but this was just mindblowing. Cardinals for the superbowl? It's madly unlikely, but so was them getting this far...

Im going for the Eagles over the Giants. I've just got a feeling, and I think Trent Cole is gonna knock Eli for 6 a couple of times.

Hey look! It's that "snigger" guy!

Adieu Giants, parting is such non-Manningans in the SB.

I called the Titans losing, wasn't surprised with Arizona winning since they had both QBs playing for them. Now the Giants blow it??? Crazy crazy post season. The Cards and the Eagles playing for a superbowl spot, who would have guessed.

I didnt see it coming but i am so happy that 2 teams that accually do more than run the ball are playing for the NFC Championship.

Now we just need Chargers to make a major upset against Steelers and we are garantee throwing fun in both Finals.
