Well they've started "contract negotiations" so they are at least considering the guy...and it would be a Parcells' move....but it could be a bluff.

The Falcons? Man...I'm not convinced about Matt Ryan....although I think he's solid...

My first three choices for their first pick

1. Glenn Dorsey
2. Matt Ryan
3. Darren McFadden (he could change them as much as Peterson changed the Vikes)

Although part of me wants to see the Falcons get a second or third rounder at QB...I really like Flacco....and what about Dennis Dixon? I think he could be a diamond in the rough.

flacco is vastly underrated. i never hear anyone talk about him and he's proven he can perform AS A PASSER and he has the body of big ben or steve mcnair.

dixon hasnt proven himself as a passer really.. hes a younger mike vick. convert to WR and he'll have a better chance

as far as mcfadden. peterson was head and shoulders above the level of play in college as a FRESHMAN. mcfadden wasnt.

honestly, i think Ray Rice is being overlooked big time in this draft. He performed excellently at an academic school and he reminds me of emmitt smith or maybe bettis as a pro. big guy, hard runner, gets yards through bashing heads not jumpin and jivin, and he's stayed healthy. there are at least a dozen teams in need of this type of back. id like to see him go to san diego because hes a class guy, is the perfect change up to LT(or Sproles), and he will be available later in the draft than he should be.

I think J Steward, the Oregon Running back, could end up being more solid in the long run than all the other backs....well...I guess you could throw Mendenhall from Illinois in there as well...that kid is a beast of a man.

I think Mendenhall may be the best of the bunch

Jake Long will be the No. 1 pick in the 2008 NFL draft.

The Miami Dolphins announced Tuesday afternoon they reached a contract agreement with Long and will select him with their first choice Saturday afternoon.

The Big Tuna is acting decisively in Miami. It's going to be interesting to see how that organization starts shaping up.

The Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to trade Pro Bowl defensive end Jared Allen to the Minnseota Vikings.

The Chiefs will receive Minnesota's first- (17th overall) and both of its third-round picks (73rd and 82nd) as compensation. The teams also swapped spots in the sixth round, with Minnesota getting Kansas City's 187th overall pick, and the Chiefs getting the Vikings' 182nd selection. The Chiefs gained five spots in the sixth round to go along with the 17th, 73rd and 82nd overall picks.

Kansas City has been looking to acquire additional draft picks in an attempt to speed up coach Herm Edwards' rebuilding project for a team that lost its last nine games in 2007 and finished 4-12.

The Vikings and Allen agreed on a six-year, $73.26 million deal that includes $31 million in guaranteed money. The deal will pay $38.4 million in the first three years. Allen flew to Minnesota on Tuesday night in anticipation of Wednesday's events.

The Vikings fill a need by adding Allen to their front four. The Pro Bowl starter had a league-leading 15.5 sacks in 2007 along with 67 tackles, three forced fumbles and 18 pressures in only 14 games.

2007 Stats:
Games: 14
Tackles: 64
Sacks: 15.5

The Chiefs need offensive linemen and defensive backs, two position groups that scouts believe to be in abundance. The Chiefs already owned the No. 5 overall pick in the draft, and now have 13 selections with the trade, including six of the first 82 picks.

Before trading the 26-year-old Allen to the Vikings, the Chiefs also talked with Tampa Bay about Allen.

General manager Carl Peterson's relationship with Allen has been strained ever since Peterson, in the wake of Allen's DUI convictions, described him as "a young man at risk." Allen, who could be suspended for a season if he has another alcohol-related episode, had said he would not negotiate with Kansas City if he didn't get a contract done by next July.

After reaching an impasse, the Chiefs made Allen their franchise player on Feb. 7, but did not put the exclusive tag on him, as they did on tight end Tony Gonzalez when he was franchised in 2002.

That made it possible for Allen and his agent to talk with other clubs and be examined by their team doctors.

Allen was suspended the first two games by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell last season for multiple DUI convictions. But Allen says he has stopped drinking entirely, a claim backed up by close friends.

In his first game back from the suspension against the Vikings, he had nine tackles, two sacks, a pressure and a pass defended. He also forced Adrian Peterson to fumble.

The 6-foot-6, 270-pound Allen was drafted with a supplemental fourth-round pick out of Idaho State in 2004.

Should be a great pickup if he stays of the booze

Pat Williams, Kevin Williams and Jared Allen. I don't know who's on the other end, but that's a wrecking crew right there.

Vikings need corners and receivers, but I guess they're going to somewhat compensate for the corners by going after the QB hard.

Don't need corners if the QB is being hit after 3 steps, or you are running with 2 receivers to try to have blockers.

Meh. We will see what happens.

He was absolutely ridiculous for me in Madden 2006; I was paying him something like 9 million a year after five seasons, but didn't trade him because that name is so awesome. Doesn't he have some treatable form of leukemia? Lemme go look.

Some internet research has confirmed that he is awaiting a bone-marrow transplant from his older brother and may not play the entire 2008 season. Yikes. I don't know him, or any of the thousands of those struggling with leukemia, but I wish for all of them to win that battle.

Dammit, I've been waiting all day to see who the pack will pick in the first round, and when it finally gets here they trade it. It was a good trade, I think, but I wanted a real pick. they gave up the #30 pick to get the #36 and a fourth round pick, so I think they came out ahead.

@ RLY ..... and a pretty underwhelming pick at that especially with no one to throw the ball.

I was a little sad that the top guys all got drafted quickly. My favorite memory from laas year was watching Brady Quinn sit there about to cry as he slipped lower and lower. Although, this year there really wasn't anyone I would have enjoyed seeing that happen to as much.

i think the story is more of the big names that slipped because of their poor 07 campaigns when they came into the season as top10 potential picks.. brian brohm was a potential #1 pick a year ago, john david booty is still available near the end of the 3rd round, mario manningham just went near the end of the 3rd, early doucet went in the 3rd, dennis dixon is still available after demonstrating remarkable ability to win games, etc

now ray rice went to the ravens in round 2. seems the ravens are drafting for my heart. makes me feel good rice went on day 1 as he deserved it. jacob hester went to the chargers in the 3rd round, which was my second choice for a backup to LT. rice was of course my first one, as he was the most consistent back available to fill Turners roll

Gotta love my Bucs, draft a pot head in the first, then a 5'9" 165 lb wide reciever in the second... :/

Can't wait to see how they did today.

So last night I was walking downtown for some pizza at like 1am with some friends of mine,
and someone said, "I'm so hungry I could eat a whole pizza."

I said, "I bet I could eat 100 pizzas," and no one understood me. I was sad.
