The Raiders gave a heap of money to someone on the Defensive Line I've never heard of...and yes Turner should be a good pickup. Still need a QB.

Warren Sapp? Eight-time Pro-Bowler?
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

Tommy Kelly wasn't drafted into the NFL, has never been selected to a Pro Bowl and generally isn't in the discussions of best defensive linemen. But he can put this on his résumé: Thursday, the Raiders made Kelly the highest-paid defensive tackle in the NFL.

Kelly, 27, signed a seven-year, $50.5 million deal that includes $18.125 million in guarantees.

Kelly was playing well at defensive end before he sustained a season-ending knee injury against the Tennessee Titans on Oct. 28. He is expected to move inside with the retirement of defensive tackle Warren Sapp.

"I've trained that monster, and he's coming (along)," Sapp said of Kelly last season. "There's nothing I can do to stop him. It's going to be his spot, and I'm going to step the hell out of the way gracefully."

Kelly signed with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent in 2004. He played only 10 games, including three starts at defensive tackle, but led the team with four sacks. He played both end and tackle in 2005, then started all 16 games at tackle in 2006.

Kelly moved to right end last season and was credited with helping to lead a midseason defensive resurgence before suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament against the Titans.

More Lunacy... He didn't even play the position last year and he is coming off an injury ... Madness

He does seem a little overpaid.

I think the Browns made some good moves. As long as they aren't bitten by the injury bug, they could be the new power in the AFC NORTH this year.

Stallworth (though overpaid) will be a good compliment to Braylon Edwards and Kellen Winslow. They need to shore up their defense still, though they've made a lot of improvements on the D-Line.

I think they resigned Anderson, which is good. Trade Brady Quinn. Cleveland fans deserve a good season.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

I'm not even a Packer's fan but this is sad news. I love watching the man play. I'm not entirely convinced when we approach the summer he won't change his mind though.

If it is, cheers to a top 5 QB of all time that I got to see his entire career.

I'm not convinced.

I can't believe the Eagles didn't offer moss a little more incentives or they could've had their go to guy McNabb's been demanding....

It will be interesting to see what the Patriots do in the draft. Their defense HAS to get younger, mainly at Linebacker.

I like that Favre's quitting while he's ahead. Allows him to go out on his own terms.

But in the NFC, he could easily get back to the Super Bowl (if the team stays clear of the injury bug). I want him to go out while still playing at a high level, but I think he needs ONE more shot at it.

He's just so fun to watch play.

I think it's the right time for Favre to go ... they had a much better year I think than even he expected ... still it's sad to lose a proper Legend of the game ... Happy retirement Brett

I think Belechick's major weakness is his arrogance. He seems to think that he can take any older player and make them effective in his schemes. He likes the older players because they are more humble after a long career and will do anything for a ring.

It came back to bite him in the Super Bowl...maybe he's learned his lesson.

As resident Packers and Favre fan, let me say that today is a sad day. After the career he's had though, there's no wrong time to retire. I think one more shot is in order, but I can't blame him for hanging it up. Tomorrow's my birthday. What a present.

I think Aaron Rodgers will be fine. Best thing that could've happened to him was sit a few years. He was a little too arrogant coming out of college, and falling that far in the 1st Round let you see how mentally weak he was then. I think he's much more confident and humble now, plus he'll know the Packers system.

Packers are still a team to beat next season, IMO.
