Mostly just bitter about Sunday's game. Yeah, it's pretty much the Vikings' fault that they lost, but all of those intentionally late and low hits on Favre by the Saints D were just ridiculous.

Ahh, okay. I don't know if any teams are worse about playing dirty than others, but back in the day when I actually watched football, it was the Cowboys. They were notorious for it - that, and their crooks. That's why I hate them.

I'm tempted to write a novella as to why tehol is wrong about the Colts being one dimensional, and why this:
The Colts on the other hand are more of a one dimensional team. Yeah they've got PM and he's awesome, but their defense is not the greatest, and although PM can place the ball anywhere, their WR's can't seem to catch a ball to save their life. Addai had some great games this season, but he's not on par with the Saints run game.
Has just been proved to be abysmally wrong the last two weeks, and that the statement on the WRs.... Well. Anyways.
I won't.
It'll be a good game. Saints are a helluva team.

Two weeks does not erase an entire season of play, I get that they are your team though so I expect you could come up with a page worth of comments. I don't think you are going to honestly argue with me about the Colts D, they played so poorly at times this season I wonder why they bothered to get dressed. As for the WR's yeah Garcon is finally starting to catch, and clearly after last game Collie is improving as well, I don't have anything bad to say about Reggie Wayne but he was the only one with consistency this season. Garcon dropped perfect passes all season long, I know you bitched about the WR's a good deal this year. There is a reason that they had so few td's in their games this year and that many of the td's they did have were run in by Addai. I am not saying they suck, I'm not saying they aren't going to be a challenge for the Saints, or that PM isn't awesome, I'm just saying that in my mind the Saints are a more well rounded team. Brees is good in his own right, he's not PM, but he's still an awesome qb. It's almost impossible to stop the Saints, they have amazing RB's they can go to anyone at anytime. Most teams can't sucessfully stop their run game because they have too many options, and if they do Brees takes it to the air. They've got so many options that it's extremely difficult for teams to stall them on all of those fronts. Brees isn't afraid to lay it out there and go for the long bombs, and Shockey is super athletic. I just think they have more weapons in their arsenal than the Colts do, combined with the fact that the Colts D is lacking it could prove to be a problem. If you put pressure on PM or effectively cover their WR's and stop their pass game, then the Colts are forced to turn to Addai. He's not on par with the RB's of NO, not to mention he's injury prone. NO is also fantastic at forcing turnovers, whether they are stripping the ball or intercepting it. It makes for a hard game for your Colts. I think it's going to be a good game no matter what.
@Terez Yes Favre should have run with all that open space ahead of him, and gone for the first down to get them within fg range, but that interception may have been the last play of the game for them offensively, but not the worst. I'm more bothered by things like AP being unable to hold on to the ball, his fumbles killed them, as did the fumble by Harvin. It was still a good game on Favre's part, not his best for sure, but I will remember his season overall much more than that interception. Of course he didn't want to go out like that, no one does, I don't think it means he's going to retire though or should. It just means they go back next year and improve upon some things, have another awesome season. He may have thrown that interception last night, but he was hands down one of the top three qb's in the league this year and a serious contender for mvp. He transformed the Vikes and led them to the NFC champship which is a long way from where they were last year. I don't think that's a bad not at all.
Oh and I will forget you said you hate my Cowboys!

1. I don't want to get into a pissing argument with you.
2. I respect your opinion.
3. You should know by now anything that comes out of my "hands" during a fantasy game is generally straight emotion and no analysis.
4. Do you remember how much I bitched about the Colts (yes, obviously from above)? An absurd amount for a fanatic, yes? It's because being negative is easier than being positive.
5. Peyton Manning is an assassin waiting for his marks, all the time. The Colts out-rushed the #1 Rush O. Shut down the Baltimore Run-O. The Colts D shutdown two of the "best" rush games in the NFL, and out performed both of their "superior" defenses.
6. The Colts are a favorite because they are the best team in the NFL. The Saints will be a fantastic match-up, and it'll be a great game.

No pissing match required, just stating my opinion and you are stating yours. I never expected you to agree with me, they are your team. I don't think they are the best in the league, the two best teams played for the NFC championship on Sunday night imo. However I do agree it's going to be a good game. Feel free to say I told you so if the Colts pull out the win on Super Bowl Sunday, I'll do the same should the Saints emerge victorious.

Yea pretty much. They had 5 turn overs and lost in OT to a field goal. They shot themselves in the foot and almost still won.
But the spear in brett's back after he hands off to AP and take three steps to the other side of the field wasn't called. The textbook 'brady rule' where farve got hit on his knees and below from behind wasn't called. The false start penalty when everyone stopped playing except one D linebacker who leveled farve wasn't called. The play where Farve was picked off the ground then slammed down wasn't called.
All those should have been penalties. That's not to say it would have changed the outcome, but if you are going to have rules, then you need to enforce him. There was a late hit/spear on Sanchez in the jets game that wasn't called.
Wish the vikes would have won, but they gave away the ball too much and didn't deserve to win. If Farve wasn't taking late hits, would he have thrown those picks? I dunno.
I also agree with whoever said that booth review with that 4th and 1 where the guy dropped the ball so the ball never made it past the line, and then they didn't overturn the call of 1st down, was bad.

The ball merely has to break the vertical plane of the goal-line for it to be a touchdown.

If it breaches the white paint: Touchdown. Of course, if it's being received, then it has to be controlled as well.

Am I the only one who's puzzled by this change to have the pro bowl prior to the super bowl? I mean, the players competing in the super bowl won't be playing...but that precludes some of the best player this season (e.g. Manning, Brees) from participating.

The Pro Bowl is a joke. 8 quarterbacks from the AFC have been asked to go. That's HALF of the AFC starting quarterbacks.

If the pro bowl's the NFL's "all-star game" then I'd expect that the best players from that season get the recognition of playing / starting. I think removing those players makes the pro bowl kinda lame imo.

The colts are not the best team in the NFL, i am a huge colts fan, and have a man crush on manning, but they are not the best team. They won games to get themselves into the spot they are, but if by being the best means you have to comeback 7 times in the 4th quarter to win games, that is not in my mind the best team in the nfl, because if ur the best you shouldnt be in that position in the first place. I agree with what many people think in that the 2 best teams played each other already, the saints and vikings game. I was rooting for the vikings, and i am sad they lost but the saints are a good team, and overall as a team, i think they are more well rounded and the better team than the colts, but that doesnt mean i think they are going to win.
The colts offense behind PM is going to pick apart the NO defense. But the colts defense i think is going to match up well against the saints O and cant wait to see how that turns out.
I will be sportin my new PM jersey during the superbowl.

Yeah, what HD said above. And that was a good call by the refs on that challenge; the guy was clearly still in bounds when he knocked over the pylon (the orange block that marks the corner of the endzone) with the football.

Ah, yes. I keep forgetting winning close games is as bad as losing to Tampa Bay (3-13) at home, or losing to Carolina and Chicago. My bad, guys.
