4 day break! What, is he on holidays now or something? Well, I don't care how long he takes (OK, I do) because he deserves some time off I think. Though I get the feeling that he won't take much longer than a week between books until he's finished the entire series.

Okay well just a little speculation. Getting your hopes up for a March 2007 release is not a good idea.

A) Look at what happened with Bonehunters
;) Transworld is also releasing Night of Knives next year and understanbly they might not want to release two Malazan novels in HB/TP too close together. ICE just might not sell as most readers will opt to purchase Steven Erikson since he is the established author.

My take on this, they'll release Repears Gale say May/June, this seems like a reasonable time between two novels in a series. Have some sort of an ad campaign running with this release for Night of Knives (and if they were smart they would seriously consider doing this), perhaps release a page or two from Night of Knives, you know get the readers who dont frequent this forum at all knowledgeable about ICE and then a few months later...say towards the end of 07 release Night of Knives.

In my mind, March is still too early a release date considering the history. They usually release MMPB 12months after the release of the HB/TP and then a month or two later the next novel. So expect MMPB of BH on the shelves in March and then 2months later Reapers Gale to hit the shelves.

I know I can be way off...but this seems like a good scenario.

And yes I was bored....

They might not release the two Malazan novels together, but the novels only have that unity for people in the superknow. I had to recently break it to a friend of mine that I was in fact a more substantial geek than he, and lend him my copy of KoN, which he had not heard of. I think if they smart, they'll piggy back the release of Esslemont's book onto Eriksons.

And if they don't, poop on them.

Bonehunters was originally due out Feb, 05 and this was set back 12 months.
So my guess with RG... Xmas 07 or early 08 ;)

c'mon now, don't jinx the release. I don't care much if it comes out early spring, but don't start talking about December 07 and January 08.

i may be speaking out of turn (as if that's new), but my understanding is that bantam wants to catch up with the original publishing schedule.

HQ (books at transworld) is in London, isn't it? Smoking or sodden torches would be the better image :)

House of Chains which is supposed to be published on 22nd August (according to Amazon.com), has been shipped to me today from Amazon.com - 5 days before the official release day, which is a great news :)

And Bantam have now confirmed that Reaper's Gale will be in March 2007 with Night of Knives and Return of the Crimson Guard in May 2007...although I'm wondering if RotCG was a typo and they're actually releasing that in May 2008, which would make more sense. Unless NoK is a mass-market paperback original and RotCG is a trade paperback.

So if SE is already into Toll the Hounds he should finish that well in advance of a March 2008 release date, and we may get Dust of Dreams in March 2009 (seriously looking far ahead now). The last one we'll probably have to wait longer for though if Bantam and Tor want to publish it simultaneously.

Crap, when the MBF finishes I'll be the wrong side of 30 :)

I thought RotGC was 2007 anyway? and I did think it would be Trade and not hard back.

Considering I'm only halfway thru 'Memories of Ice' at this time, I'll be well into my 30s when I finally finish the series...
