Dryice: Green Pig is dead, isn't he? He was in prison. Besides, he's said to have been an infamous mage but we don't know what he actually did.
The Ceda prepared the tile of the Cedance to intercept the true timing of the Seventh Closure. It necessarily meant that when it occurred, Lether's future ruler would be try to take his throne and so the Ceda would be there to sanction or counter it...a self-fulfilling destiny for him, if you will.
The preparation thing seemed entirely different to me. He was preparing to trap Hanan Mosag's sea demon. That's what he was there doing for days...not gathering power. He had carefully prepared and baitied his trap. He was then waiting....he'd generated (and sustained) a core of power in that submarine chamber to lure it there. It was a waiting game; timing and the players (Mael and the Jaghut sorceress) were crucial.
As for Nekal Bara being "defeated like she was nothing"...well it wasn't the K'risnan Dark Mac. The woman turned herself into a spear of light and pierced the flank of a sea god...a primal spirit, with renewed power. Arahathan failed in confronting it with his sorcery but Nekal Bara was able to infiltrate it. What she, or any human, could NOT have been expected to do, was to deal with all that rose up to greet her within that god....all the memories, the years of worship, spilled blood, atrocities committed in its name AND whatever Hanan Mosag 'fed' it to restore its power... that raw force, she couldn't contend with. I dare say, noone on our list so far could have.
So I say the Ceda was pretty fascinating. He showed amazing stamina and didn't appear to sag, buckle or diminish. His control over the Cedance Ritual threatened to obliterate the entire Edur incursion throughout all of Letheras. Now where else have we seen that sort of display? Even Taychrenn at Pale, was brought to his knees at one point deflecting Rake's sorcery.
By the way Dark Mac, please advise me about Tayschrenn's connection with the Azath. Interesting point.
"We greet you Jaghut."
