Hard to speculate on how, but Crokus/Cutter must be esential to blocking the return of the tyrant somehow, no doubt, Kruppe will figure large once again.
I'd like to see Onos toolan and his sister involved with this.
Would be awsome if Trull and Onrack were to put in an apearance at the same time. she fixed her brother up so would be nice if she would do the same for Onrack given their past history.

Not sure if this was pointed out, Cutter was the one who "stumbled" upon Kellanved/Dancer's plans to occupy all thrones....Everything in the series makes you believe he will be important, however I don't know how.
He isn't uniquely talented at anything beyond being in the right place at the right(or wrong) time. He isn't exceptionally smart, or strong, or talented etc...

Oh, I had forgotten this thread, baka of me.
So for Crokus destiny, a lot of people seem to think that he will be a compagnion for Apsalar (add to the fact that he thinks that about hmself in HoC). Nevertheless, I've avanced the idea that apsalar would become the new godness of thieves (based on the fact that the previous one is still missing, that Apsalar is clearly an ascendant and that she has more han enought skills to be a thief).. If I'm right, what will occure to Crokus Younghand ? Will he end by ascending too or will he just become a champion to Apsalar ?

I'm of an opposite opinion.
I think the link between Crokus and Apasalar has been broken. Apsalar has grown into something far more like Cotillion since she travelled with Cutter and Cutter is beginning to grow up. I doubt his relationship to Scillara will last, but I think apasalar, at around the time of Bonehunters, have greater interests in Paran or Cotillion.
The romantic relationships SE creates between his characters wouldn't normally seem as mushy and hollywood as crokus and apasalar being reunited in the end. I would rather see Cutter come back to Darujisthan and swoop Chalice D'Arle of her feet. Using her family influence to rise to the seat of power in the citystate.

NO! Apsalar+Crokus = Lurv!!!
Besides, I remember a section in BH where Apsalar is talknig to Cotillion and she more or less admits that she still loves him deeply.

She's been stuck with Telorast and Curdle for so long, shes grabbing at anyone! Her heart belongs to Crokus!! Once he sheds his silly new name, Apsalar will come back to him!!

Just to spite you Trotts im making a wager that Apsalar cuts down Crokus/Cutter and eats his heart. Would make a great ending for the next book.

uh, maybe Apsalar dies... I just think it's more likely for her to die, getting involved with so many things. She's dangerous. Someone might want to get rid of her.

Any point speculating on whether Cutter too might be on the way to ascension? the whole thing with his being stabbed and so-on reminded me of what happened with Paran, and then there's the thing with the QoD..

Just like a woman:rolleyes:
Sorry Hetan, I don't remember, what thing with the QoD?
I'll be very surprised if they don't get back together or die in each others arms just as they find out that the other still loves them blah blah blah you know the sort of thing.

The thing with the QoD... where he's watching by her pool when the QoD meets with Leoman and Dunsparrow...

Oh yeah! Thanks for that.
They all love Crokus, even the Godesses. He really should lose that silly Cutter nonsense.

So far Crokus has stood in others shadows in what has been quite an education. His mentors have included Kruppe, Rallick, Kalam, Fid, Aspalar, Icarium, Mappo and Cotillion. In TotH I think we’ll see Crokus come into his own.
Two little points I’d like to mention.
Firstly after his fight with the Edur he picks up a heavier 7cities type dagger Kalam likes to use with deadly effect and decides to learn to fight in that style. He is now traveling with Kalams cousin. Coincidence? I wouldn’t be surprised if he starts kicking some major arse when it comes to a rumble, in the next book.
Secondly it seems those exposed to power (in Wu) gain power through some unexplained process of Osmosis. We might see the manifestation of his excessive exposure to the mega powerful (such as entering the Azath, getting killed, hanging with gods and so on) soon as well. I am particularly curious to see if being so close to the vicinity of the Hebroic/Jade hands thingie will have any effect.
I think Crokus will step up and become a major force soon.

he may or he may not
Bararthol Mekhar's no assasin though, so don't expect any breakthrough from that direction
Then there's also his puppy love with Apsalar, who's coming to find him, only to see him in bed with Scillara...
The question is, will he go back to being Crokus, or will he remain Cutter?

To be honest, I expect SE to fulfill my belief in his ability to write wonderfully by placing Crokus in a situation where he can fulfill his original goal from GotM. He wanted to become learned and then sweep Challice off her feet. He started his education, but then Mammot had his run-in with Raest - so it's like Crokus' education hasn't ended and all of his travels and powerful associations could be a continuation of that same education. He will wind up back in Darujistan more powerful(due to learning his knife fighting and such), educated (in the ways of quite a few continents and ascendants), and confident(speculation, but probably due to the outcome of he and Apsalar's reunion or some falling out/realization with Scillara). He will then try to champion Genabaris against the CG in some as-yet-unforseen way.
That's my take.
