I rather doubt Corabb was sexually attracted to Leoman, he just worshipped him.

yeh like the rest of his warriors he worshipped leoman. Leoman seemed to deserve this worship aswell until the incident as Yghatan. i really didnt like this turn of events. it was almost as bad as tays turning round in MOI

Just as a side note... isnt Corabb Oponns favorite right now? Isnt that what the Queen of dreams stated?
His hero worship was one thing, but he did seem to have a fair bit of animosity towards Dunsparrow, a lil jealousy... lol, and the last thing I think Corabb would be in touch with would be his own Homosexuality! Up untill BH, every other group where crazed killers..... he obviously is very insolated.

This thread gives a whole new meaning to the book's title.

Personally, I don't think gay male characters are strong enough for a spot in an Erikson novel...Lesbian, sure...unless the Malazan stories change direction start discussing fashion sense and interior decorating ideas..."Dancer daintily approached and said in a soft lisp, "My, what a lovely dress Apsalar....and those pumps are to die for!"
The price is wrong bitch!

As for the sexuality of Icarium and Mappo, it's actually mentioned...
There's also a passage in DG where Mappo talks about his life before he joined up with Icarium, and there's hinted at a girl-story.
"Page 118" said:
"None of my desires surprise you, do they? It is no exaggeration that you know my mind better than I. Would that you were a woman."
"Were I a woman, Icarium, I would have serious concerns about your taste in women."
"Granted," the Jhag replied, "you are somewhat hairy. Bristly, in fact."

I do find this entire topic quite silly, but I happened to be re-reading DG just now, and I came across this little gem:
Of course, it could just be a good story, and not true...
"Page 323" said:
"when did you last lie with a woman?" Felisin asked him.
It was not Gesler who answered, however. The crossbowman's - Stormy's - voice drifted out frmo the shadow beneath the sailcloth: "That would be a year and a day, the night I dressed up as a Kanese harlot - had Gesler fooled for hours. Mind you, he was pretty drunk. Mind you, so was I."
The corporal grunted. "That's a soldier's life for you. Too think to know the difference..."
"too drunk to care," the crossbowsman finished.

thank you very much for this gem. In the start i didn't like this little crew... but dammit, stormy's a charming fellow
That said, I think it's just normal guy humor, I've pulled off worse than that...

Yeah, I assume they're just playing with Felisin. Still, I thought it fitted nicely in this thread...

I think when Icarium and Karsa meet up it's going to be a man-on-man action that will shake the sky-keeps out of the blue, melt Jaghut ice, and set free the souls from Rake's sword. Only question is, who will be the bottom...
Oh crap, there goes what little reputation I have. I guess I'll have to save my speculations on the love/hate relationship between Brood and Kruppe for some other time..

It never occured to me that the Knight of Flowers was gay, but now it seems pretty blatant. And Renly too?
Moraine & Suaine though, I don't really see that, despite Jordan's sudden fondness for working "pillow friends" into Knife of Dreams. Those Aes Sedai must get awful lonely in that Tower...

Loras is very gay , never wonder why he does not care about pretty Sansa et all the girls around him ? Plus his uncle said to Sansa during her weeding with my Tyrion that Loras is beautiful and cool but hat Tyrion is a big man despite his physical and reputation , surely he knew his nephew prefers boys ... And his sister , she may be virgin when Renly die because ... Aah

For the Aes Sedai , when I read this story of pillow friends I was pretty surprised because , naive like I am , I viewed the Aes Sedai like ... des saintes ni touche (nuns in english ?)

For the moment I don't think Dancer & Kellanced , Ammanas & Cotillion are gay , they have a patnership and it's works well . Sure , they like each other but sleeping together , don't think so ...

It refers to Dancer as Kellanved's cohort, not consort. Easy mistake to make. Consort definitely implies a sexual relationship. Cohort just means a companion or an associate.

I think Corabb might have had a little bit of a man-crush for Leoman. Of course, he wouldn't have recognized it as such, and would have protested vehemently and violently if the idea was brought up to him, but you know what they say about protesting too much.....

that's one question that popped up in my head as the series moved on. They definatly have a closer relationship than just best friends. I wouldnt have seen it as being a sexual one. More as twin souls or soulmates - although there's always a possibility. It's almost implied by the language.

Leoman-Corabb was more hero-acolyte. If you remember the little back story we got on Corabb, he was basically tortured and left for dead by someone or other, and Leoman saved him and made him a new man. Hence the hero worship. I don't think it's sexual in the slightest.

Corabb even mentions having sex with women, allthough never the same women that Leoman has sex with... It's all mention in this very thread some pages ago.

Corabb was being dragged behind the horses of 3 gral warriors, then Leoman paid his 'blood price' and took him to a healer, who then saved him. (I just finished re-reading this part of HoC).
Which, Corabb reflects, is increadibly out of character for Leoman. He would kill/die/allow himself to be mutilated for Leoman, and, as any hero worship, he expects his hero to recognize this, and acknowledge that he is his best friend... and there is no suprise, to me at least, that when dunsparrow takes over the number 1 place in Leoman's eyes/heart/brain(whatever you want to call it) that Corabb gets jealous.
