In this order...
Ganoes Paran, Kruppes, Rallick Nom, Kalam and Lorn. Honorable mention is Tool, he is totally different and written well IMO. I guess I like characters that excel even though they are not supremely powerfull as in mages/gods and have faults or get used (pawns). I do sense that mages get taxed using their warrens so, I guess there is somwhat of a balance.

I would like to see Anomander kill Tayschrenn - a nice twist of irony there. Then he could fly over to Unta and kill Lasseen. He could then give the throne to QB. At least Monoch would be happy if that happened.

Well, you say that now, but soon you will look back and go "oh I've finished!" then you won't know what to do with yourself! Try a reread! I left the first two books at home when I came to uni, and now I'm positively screaming to get back, just so I can pick them up and read them again! I have to restrain myself everyday from jumping on a train and just doing it! If it was cheap, I porbably would...

We start with Paran as this books initial start, other characters are eventualy introduced in a way where this question can be asked.
I like Fantasy were you can identify with one person over all, many exceptions to this silly rule. Since the stage has set for the overcrouding of characters just as THE WHEEL OF TIME.

I'm surprised no-one mentioned Tattersail.
She a very believable character. I like her a lot. Much more so than any other character in the series she seems like a decent human being.
I'd have loved more backstory on her. What happened at Mott Wood? She was promoted by Dujek after that because Mage Cadre leader Nedurian got killed.
Aren't the Mott Irregulars mentioned in MoI?

! A classic Character. Plus the entourage of the sappers as well I guess.

You know what it's almost impossible to decide who your fav character is, mind I absolutely LOVE Ganoes Paran, but still I mean there's like 10,000other characters that I like just as much. They're all just so GOOD! It's the one thing that sets Erikson apart from everyone else. Each character is highly developed and there are SOO many of them. It's just magnificant how he manages to make every character important in thier own right. All Hail Erikson

I believe that someone said Lorn was a close second. To each his/her own and I mean no slight but one of the most fulfilling parts of readin GotM was when that nasty cow got whupped and then knifed like a pig. Mage killer! 
Couldn't stand her and hated the Malazan Empire at the time....hate tyrants and conquest and all of that crap. I've read all the books and I don't think it's a spoiler to say that I still despise Laseen.
My favourite character was Anomander Rake. I even liked Hairlock for a while there.
