I finished the last of Glen Cook's Black Company books, Water Sleeps and Soldier's Live (at least, I think those are the last) and I did enjoy them even if the ending was a wee bit of a downer. I've now moved on to re-reading Return of the Crimson Guard while I wait for my latest Chapters order to arrive and once that gets here I'm either going to start with House of Leaves or Scalzi's Redshirts. Or maybe Ruff's The Mirage...I don't know, they all look so good!

Finished The Red Wolf Conspiracy by Robert Redick and found it a very average fantasy and probably won't continue with the next two books. I just started Homeland by R.A. Salvatore and so far it's not too bad.

Holy crap, Ghost Ocean gets pretty freaky real quick. High-octane nightmare fuel, this stuff.
"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

Finished the last book in the City of a Hundred Rows trilogy. Nothing too extraordinary, but an enjoable read nonetheless.

now reading Neuromancer by William Gibson. Probably gonna be my last book for a while, because school readings are about to kick in with a vengeance.

Finished my rereads of Storm Front and Fool Moon. On to Grave Peril. I can't believe I haven't reread the series before this.

I'm on for a CHANGES and GS reread pre- CD but am seriously considering re-hitting the whole series.

Meanwhile, reading Kearney's SHIPS FROM THE WEST. Considering its been a few years since I read the first four Monarchies of God books, am surprised how easily I got into this book.

Its the omnibus version, so I don't know how extensively it was rewritten but so far pretty good.

Ha, I don't blame you, it has to be done in one sitting... no matter where you are!

It's my first full reread of Dresden and it holds up really well which doesn't really surprise me, if you've got the time it has to be done for Cold Days...

Anyone recall the Venatori Umbrorum being mentioned again after book 2?

Reading Aloha From Hell, the 3rd of Richard Kadrey's Sandman Slim series.

For the uninitiated - imagine Harry Dresden with an attitude problem, a car theft habit, a liking for really bad (and not always human) girls and a worse knack for making enemies... Then put him in Hell for a decade, fighting demons in a gladiatorial arena, before he's made an assassin for one of the Dukes of Hell. And then send him back to the seamy side of L.A.

After all of that, you're where the 1st book starts...
If an opinion contrary to your own makes you angry, that is a sign that you are subconsciously aware of having no good reason for thinking as you do. If some one maintains that two and two are five, or that Iceland is on the equator, you feel pity rather than anger, unless you know so little of arithmetic or geography that his opinion shakes your own contrary conviction. … So whenever you find yourself getting angry about a difference of opinion, be on your guard; you will probably find, on examination, that your belief is going beyond what the evidence warrants. Bertrand Russell

The first one has been sitting in my TRP for ages... i love Kadrey (METROPHAGE) most of the time (BUTCHER BIRD not so much)... i think i must needs move it up a few notches.

Btw METROPHAGE is an author authorized freebie here .

Finally finished my Hitchhiker's Guide reread. That took me way too long. Might have been because it was my fourth time through... Also finished Hunters of the Red Moon by Marion Zimmer Bradley. I very highly recommend this. It's an older book and thus fairly cheap and short. Shouldn't really take anyone here more than an afternoon to polish it off.

Started up the Book Athyra by Brust to continue the Vlad Taltos books, and also kicked into a Lord Foul's Bane reread.

Finished up Cornwell's first Grail book HARLEQUIN which was Cornwell goodness as per usual. Good series, want to see where it goes.

Currently finishing off the last 100 pages of Pratchett's THE WEE FREE MEN (which is still excellent), and then after my screening today Neil Jordan's BYZANTIUM put me in a vampire mood, which means I think I'll finally be grabbing Jasper Kent's TWELVE out of the ToRead pile and having a go at it.

Have you read Azincourt by Bernard Cornwell?

There is a nod to Thomas of Hookton in that book.

For the rest of the series, you've got some quality battles to come!

As QT (once) recommended, I'm about to start The Stories of Ibis (Hiroshi Yamamoto).

It also pleases me that, having finished FoD, my bag is much lighter!

Nope, the Grail series is the one Cornwell series I'd never tried out, I'd only read his Saxon books, Arthurian books, and Sharpe books.

Perhaps you are mixing up the Arthur series and the Grail series?
