Finished Cancer Ward by Solzhenitsyn. The first half read like First Circle Light but it really picked up towards the end. Great book.

Now reading Lolita by Nabokov.

Finshed: Paladin of Souls. Nothing special. For once, the title has very little relation to the book...
Now it's back to Wuthering Heights...

Neuromancer - William Gibson

And also I'm struggling through Stalingrad by Anthony Beevor. It's a really good book but I have no love for war-books heavy on detailed information and figures about armies and such.

@Naki *sniff*Posted Image No, it hasn't arrived yet. I think I'll email and ask if they've posted it yet. Maybe it's just caught up in the Xmas mail.

I think I'll start to re-read MOI.

@ Fool, both books I discovered here from the Top Ten Books thread.
Great threads, those.. only drawback is that after reading it I ended up ordering 11 books.. play.com makes it too easy Posted Image

Anyways, I just finished The Warrior-Prophet.. truly brilliant book. Going to read Gates of Fire or War Junkie next..

I've read quite a few things since I last posted... The Gunslinger, which was ok; King Rat, which was better than usual Mieville on the ending; and Lord of Light, by Zelazny, which was interesting and reminded me a bit of Ilium...

hey, since you've finished it, I'm pretty close to Winnipeg ... think you'd have the heart to lend it out? I promise not to drool or dog ear the pages, and I'd return it right on time...

I'm still reading Gardens of the Moon. I'm trying to balance taking my time with it and reading it as fast as I can.

I can't wait to read Dark Tower 6 as its out now.

Hope that this helps ya.

A sumptuous novel of mediaeval honour, love and guilt, featuring an historical figure believed to have inspired the knight of Chaucer's Canterbury Tales.

Guy de Bryan is the perfect gentle knight. Bur when he sees Elizabeth, he knows that what he feels is anything but courtly love. It is an emotion so strong that it will lead him into mortal danger and change the course of both their lives. During a perilous journey across the freezing Alps, his secrets torment him, until a young squire begins to draw out what has been hidden for so long: a tale of murderous deception, rivalry and deep passion.

The origins of this novel lie in a chance discovery. The records show that de Bryan was a senior diplomat at the time when Chaucer first came to court, and they were often in the same place at the same time, including a mission to Genoa in windter. De Bryan was renowned for his integrity and chivalry, but he builr a great chantry to expiate his sins. What had such a gamously good man doen to need such an edifice, the ruins of which can still be seen today? And why is he buried across the aisle from his beloved Elizabeth in Tewksbury Abbey, not alongside her?

Those Valery Leith books are good, but very, very confusing.
