Just finished Pressfields new book. not as good as Gates of Fire or Tides of War... but not by much at all. A lot better than Amazons too.

Just read Bad Men by John Connolly(?). He's a crime writer with a difference, deals with metaphysical and spiritual as well as physical world. Good stuff. Also read Skilgannon the Damned thing by Gemmell. Not read any of his for about 10 years. Complete and utter escapism and you don't have to think too much but enjoyable for a train journey.
@Pale: Cheers for the link, Strontium Dog rocks!

If you liked A Day In the Life of... you should give First Circle a try.
Its similar but much more epic.

In my quest to read all things written by Neal Stephenson (because he really is the man) I''m now reading Interface and it is turning out to be another funny & clever tall tale.

Well my rationing of HoC is almost at an end, so I guess I'll finally miove onto finishing American Gods (a bit late. . . ) or maybe "Wolves of Time" by William Horwood .

Read any novels by Richard Morgan, they are science fiction, but pretty damn fantastic.
Yes, Altered Carbon, I have to agree, was fantastic. Really memorable and original. Broken Angels, a big meh, just didn't really do anything for me at all. Much perferred the style and feel of Altered Carbon. Haven't got round to Market Forces yet.
Taking a wee break from Hamilton now, Something Happened by Joseph Heller.

Been a while since I posted
Read - Q by Luther Blisset... amazing
Also - In the beginning was the command line (neal Stephenson)
- Iron Dragons Daughter ... ver good, an original steampunk (ish) novel - Michael Swanpole (i thnk)
Now currently racing through the System of the World (i forced myself to wait until all three of the Baroque cycle were available and then waded straight in to them with joy...)

Anyone read The Illuminatus Trilogy?? I'm just finishing it, its quite good but as I'm not a regular drug user and I don't mount everything in sight (man, woman, animal, demon, computer etc.) it can be quite hard to understand!
On a lighter note, one of my friends went to Guensey recently (avec girlfriend) and she took Deadhouse Gates and my new copy of Memories of Ice with her! (my old copy got dropped in the bath. Smells of smoke but all the pages drop out!!!) Another convert! Bwahahahaha!

I'm still shell-shocked at how great Dark Tower VI was... but I am reading The French Executioner by C.C Humphries, and it's starting off with some promise.
