@Aps and Bryn etc, sorry but "American Gods" is a true slimstreamer of a a novel , critiquing the Yankee Dream gone bad. European ideals, embodied in the shambling gods are distorted by the complacency, vanity and overall corporate blandness of modern America. The stumbling and barely visible plot are deliberate and self prophesing, It's a work of amazing clarity and insight...as you may have guessed I'm a Gaiman fan!

@Ironbars. I've just finished DTCB, A great read and well worth all the exposition and scene setting.The last 100 pages however are mere fluff for the second book.

Have just finished Soldiers Live (Last book of the Glittering Stone cycle of Black Company books) A noce ending but not as climactic as I was hoping.
Have now moved onto Legends. Have read the Stephen King and Terry Prachett stoires. I loved the Prachett one. It was a real witched story and Granny was brilliant in it. The King one intrigued me so much that I think I might start collecting the Gunslinger series. I had read Wizard and Glass but none of the others so I may try to find them in a second hand book store. I've heard good reports from people on this forum so they should be well worth the investment.I am buying a house so can't afford to splash out big bucks on a full set of new books.

@Evie - are you reading "Sagaen om den røde rubin" in school? You are aware that it is the sequel to "Lasso Rundt Fru Luna" yes? Should tell your teacher it's kinda silly to read book nr 2

Finished Mark of Ran by Paul Kearney.
Seems like he was really bummed out about corfe taking over the monarchies of god from hawkwood, so this time he only has one character who's a seamen in a world thats mostly sea.
Read it through in sitting. It was that good. Cant wait for the next installment.
If this takes off like MoG he might become my favorite fantasy author yet.

Have a couple of things to read again, currently proof reading/editing a novel for a publisher but cant mention much about it due to the confidentiality agreement until release date. Also have Emperor : Field of Swords by Conn Iggulden and my copy of Pride of Carthage finally landed. Looking forward to some leisure reading after I finish the editing.

Just read Jeffrey Deavers "The Blue Nowhere". That was amusing. Interesting story.

Reading A Short History Of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson at the moment. Would recommend it to everyone. Also reading a lot of Eastern European history books for college, can't even enjoy the months off.

You can still usually request books, even if they aren't ery mainstream. I do it all the time to get books when they're only out in hardcover so I don't have to pay the full price.

Ive read all the books in the Farseer series(farseer trilogy, the liveship trilogy, the tawny man trilogy) and thought the whole series was pretty amazing. A really good read.
Never read Micheal Cobley so cant help you there...sorry
