I finished "The Naked God' yesterday.
I can see why people consider the ending a letdown.

I did enjoy the series overall, and up untill the last two chapters or so, I thought the series was pretty great.

Think I'll be reading "the Judging Eye" next...

I'm three quarters of the way through Gilman's Gears of the City, which is his follow up to Thunderer. So far I can't stand it! I am so disappointed! I really enjoyed Thunderer, but felt he didn't have the opportunity to do everything with it that he might have wanted. I was expecting the follow up to be just as good or even better and expand on the depths of the city he had begun to allude to. Well it's far from it, he's taken a really odd approach to expanding on the whole thing. The pacing is terrible and his writing style seems to have changed quite a bit. I'm finding the whole thing extremely annoying and frustrating, I can't wait to get through it so I can get on to something else. This is a huge downer as I was so excited to pick this book up after having read the first one. Maybe the last quarter of the book will redeem the whole thing for me but I highly doubt it!

I finished "The Crown Conspiracy" by Michael J. Sullivan. I am glad that for a year now my access to small and independent publishers' titles is easier for me, because otherwise it is possible I would have missed some titles like this one. "The Crown Conspiracy" is an entertaining read, action-packed and which kept me hooked from the first page until the last. I certainly like to see how this series develops. (my full review)

I've just finished Carolyn Turgeon's 'Godmother', a look at how the Cinderella story might really have gone and what the consquences were... 'Godmother' is a slow old read but magical at the same time, the story has a dark edge to it and leaves you with plenty of questions. My full review is over Here.

Halfway through "Shadow's Edge" by Brent Weeks. So far it's been as good as the first one.

My only complaint so far is the 3 or 4 chapters near the beginning where Kylar is trying to be a normal herbalist guy, in a different city, ignoring his gift and sorting out why Elene won't knock da boots with him.That bit was a little slow, but it's kicked into high gear a few chapters later, so all is well.

i've been forced to stop about halfway through the Judging Eye due to a load of classwork. i'll be resuming reading that now, but out of some early impressions, there's one PoV that I dislike and am tempted to skip their chapters when reading. the rest is brilliant though.
