Just finished Persuasion by Jane Austen, and now I think I'm going to start with GotM and re-read all of SE again (possibly with some classic literature or general fiction on the side).

@Elan Morin, I try not to read fantasy when I am writing...I'm worried it will influence me....stupid maybe...but just a thing of mine.
@Greenteam....where do you live? In the U.S., Amazon says April....so hopefully they are correct...probably a little sooner in the U.K. seeing as how Campbell is from Scotland I believe...can't wait for the book!

Starting on 'Years of Rice and Salt' by Kim Stanley Robinson. I enjoyed the Mars series, and Pat's hotlist recommended this one, so I am having high hopes.

Well, I finally had enough time to finish "Blood Knight" by Keyes, Book 3 Of "THe Kingdoms of Thorn and bone"
I am left in one big WTF? moment. Seriously, it's like GotM ending (where the future events are foreshadowed) all over again, lol
all the talk of "thrones" made me smile.... several times
Apparently, Keyes is gonna keep writing those books, that's awesome and he'd better, cuz there a several dozens questions left...
Next up, "Scar nigth" by Campbell, for the book club...

I had the same experience
I was under the mistaken impression that it was a trilogy and i was reading the last book, and all of a sudden... it ends, without actually having finished.

Are the Keyes books good? I need some good recommendations and Bujold's books (beginning with the Curse of Chalion which was only OK) are a bit of a disappointment.

hmmm keyes is kinda like GRRM, but more localised, and a bit more world-building... all in all, good books, not too big, although quite dark

I really like Greg Keyes. Like GRRM, he's not afraid to kill characters and the story is gritty, which I like.
I'm looking forward to The Born Queen.

I think Keyes is good, but I couldn't help feel that very little happened to advance the main plot in The Charnel Prince. I haven't gotten around to The Blood Knight yet--how is it on that front?

I just finished Abercrombie's Last Argument of Kings. Only took me two days. What a brilliant, brilliant book. The best I have read in a long time. It easily eclipses RG and BH, IMO. Such great characters and a truly fantastic plot that kept me guessing right to the end. I get all teary-eyed just thinking about it.
Avoid being seen as racist by saying, "I'm not a racist, but ..." prior to making a racist comment.

well, in "Charnel Prince, th best storyline, imho, was Leoff's.... Blood Knight goes back to Stephen/Aspar, gives us "the bigger picture", and leaves you with a big WTF? moments, like I mentioned

I finished today The Anubis Gates by Tim Powers.
Entertaining. 4 out of 5.
I hoped for a little bit different ending.
I am going to give Gene Wolfe an opportunity to introduce himself to me through The Book of the New Sun 01 - The Shadow of the Torture.

I started Mistborn and am about a tenth of the way in... reading the free TOR pdf thingie.
Pretty cool so far... very interesting world. The idea of an immortal emperor ruling over a ruined world with ash raining from the skies and mists all around is pretty creepy. Also, the skaa are a nice concept.
