Finished Poison Study last night - interesting premise, sadly stooped to cliche romance in the end. Currently reading Kushiel's Scion, nearly 200 pages in, it's just as good as the first trilogy - I love the characters Jaqueline Carey creates.

Just started Harry Potter and the deathly hallows. Seems good so far (after 7 chapters).

Peter F Hamilton - The Reality Disfunction..... Good so far. I think the series is going to be a definate rea read though Im sure ive missed some important stuff already

Is Peter F Hamilton worth reading in general? I got about 200 pages into The Reality Dysfunction and just couldn't groove with it for some reason. I then tried Fallen Dragon and had the same problem. Is it worth sticking it out to the end?

I think the main reason is that I get the feeling the only reason he writes is because he just wanted to be 'The Cool Kid' at school, and now he has to live vicariously through space opera.

I really like Hamilton's door-stop novels... not a fan of the Fallen Dragon/Nano Flower etc ones, but Night's Dawn and the Confederation books were really enjoyable, I found.

They certainly take a while to get into though, purely because of the scope, and amount of stuff he's writing about.

THE WHEEL OF DARKNESS by DOUGLAS PRESTON and LINCOLN CHILD.

I felt like they've taken the ol' horse out for a ride once too many times with this novel. Felt like I was watching 'Titanic' again, which was not a good movie regardless of what Oscar thinks.

The ending was the only downside of that series methinks. The ideas in the books were topnotch and very cool to boot. Just that ending seemed to fizzle rather than explode.

Just picked up 'Choosers of the Slain' by John Ringo. He's a tad twisted as an author, anyone who's read 'Ghost' could probably back me up on this but they're decent military-type, gruff main characterish stories that can eat up an afternoon where I don't need to think alot about what I'm reading.

Steve Perry's Matador series is like that too. I keep going back to those books every year, guilty pleasure I suppose.

two thirds through "The Braided Path" trilogy by Chris Wooding

Fully endorsee the recommendaton by Brood, awesome series, quite dark and keeps you on your toes constantly (to paraphrase an old saying "betrayal sits on betrayal and whips with yet another betrayal")

Finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I pretty much liked it. Some moments glowed.

Cheers!

No spoilers please :)

(I really liked the first 5. However, the Half-Blood Prince was the weakest :D imho. Frankly speaking I became a bit obsessed with HP, cannot read anything else at all, only HP non-stop. Although only 1 more and the tale will be over...)

Be careful, my baby brother just reads harry potter, bok one through book 7, over and over an over again and has been doing this for the past 2 or 3 years. It disturbs me greatly. I am trying to get him onto other books... but it isn't working :p

I am reading this other eden by Ben Elton :D
