Mabe it is a little bit personal question, but I always read your posts in this topic and I wonder: Have you ever read something that you didn't like and you wrote about it in your blog, saying it is crap? Just curious :D

So far, yeah. Interesting, well-written, and occasionally funny. I'monly just getting into the real action of it, though, after the first few chapters of backstory. The writing style is very interesting, in this one; the book has its own voice, a personality coming through in the narration.

Have you read my reviews of Feist's latest novels last year? He's one of my favorite authors of all time, but his last trilogy was crap and his latest, INTO A DARK REALM, really sucks.

But unlike many readers, I won't go through a truly crappy work and then give it 1/10. I simply have too many books waiting to be read, so I'll give up if it's a turd. It hasn't happened much in the last two years, though...

The mission of the blog is to raise awareness and spread the word about what's good in fantasy/scifi/speculative fiction. I've been lucky to sidestep many turds lately, mostly because reviewers I respect read and hated those works!

Finished Song of Susannah, Book 6 of the Dark Tower.
Started Salem's Lot. I read it many years ago but don't remember anything. I feel like I might need it for the last book in the Dark Tower series. Maybe I will read Hearts in Atlantis after that.

Ilium.

So far, so good. If a little weird in the beginning. He should have started off with more explanation.

I really liked Hearts in Atlantis, and there are also several others that contribute to the Dark Tower series.

I'm reading Midnight Tides. ;)

I love Eddings' style, but I've been brainwashed to look for subtleties from reading complex stuff, and the last time I read Eddings, I found plot inconsistencies and mistakes everywhere. I guess I just can't shut off the brain cells...

Those were the ones I was talking about, Tiste, though I also read the Elenium and the Tamuli. They were my first contemporary fantasy books, and I loved them, and still have fond memories of them. I just can't re-read them any more.

EDIT: Okay, I assumed your links were advertisements for the books, or something. I've seen those before. ;)

I must admit I did like the Elenium and the Tamuli a lot better than the Belgariad etc. Though, essentially it was just the same story...

Just finished UNCLEAN by Richard Lee Byer, my "subway" read for my weekday commute. Better than the typical sword and sorcery fare, but still not something that will likely get much attention outside of that sub-genre.

Check the blog for the full review!

Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas - so far i'm not that big a fan which surprises me as this is the foundation book for a lot of other novels that i just love.
