Halfway through Against All Gods by Miles Cameron, this is one very excellent book. One of few books that really give a bronze age feeling in the same way his Red Knight books are medieval unlike so much fantasy.

Agreed! My favorite read of last year. The next book, Storming Heaven is out on July 20. It's my most anticipated book.

Michelle West's The Shining Court was the best of the bunch so far! The author ups her game and sets the stage for lots of good things to come!

Buy yourself a gift card to a book store, and then use the gift card to get a book.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Audiobooks aren't books in the traditional sense. ...just saying.

As far as audio goes, I'm not seeing it up yet in the states but I'm pretty sure it's getting a later release here yet again. Did it get an earlier release up north in Canada land or should I explore the trick you mentioned in the place that shall not be named?

Actually this has reminded me of two things... 1) I have a book voucher I got for my birthday and 2) I've not actually read Kellanveds Reach!

I have started the earbook of The Broken Crown - The Sun Sword book 1 by Michelle West. They spent an awful long time on the Dramatis Personae and a list explaining the different ranks in the empire so I'm definitely already confused hah. I'll never remember that but I figure I'll pick it all up as I go along.

Thankfully the first chapter has been fairly straightforward thus far and is intriguing me already! I like the idea of being born a healer - they seem to be marked out as quite a special bunch.

Don't worry about the different ranks. They're not as important as the author makes it sound. At least not for me!

Enjoy the ride!

Read Mercedes Lackey FOUNDATION (Collegium Chronicles Book 1)....and I have no idea why people don't like these ones in the Valdemar series...it was a fun starter book. It's VERY slice of life and not much "plot" happens but I didn't care. It was fun just being along for the ride as the Collegium starts to get built. It feels like Mercedes Lackey's attempt at a sort of YA Harry Potter-esque narrative set in her world and I have no issues with that. Is Mags just as "ass-backwards into kindness and power" as her other protags in this series? Sure. Do I care? Nah, I had a blast. I have the other 4 books in this series (plus the rest of Mags story in the Herald Spy and Family Spy books as well) and will get to them soon.

AMINA has arrived!!!!!!!!

Let me know how it is. It's in my eBook ToRead pile. Excited about it!

Noted - It's on deck w an hour to go STRANGE BEASTS and maybe 4 hours in a popcorn read i may just pause to get into this sooner. I adored Chakarabortay's DAEVABAD trilo and her excitement about this book is utterly contagious.

Also, an older retired female pirate is such a great character to dive into for an adventure.

Am enjoying the hell out of this book, the author upped her game here and the Daevabad trilo was already strong. This is faster pacing, less serious but more engaging. The pirate angle is near perfection.

Just finished THE ADVENTURES OF AMINA AL-SIRAFI.
Loved this book. Loved the setting, the characters, the way it's written, the pacing, just all around love. This book was fun and engaging and the Middle Eastern/N African based pirate fantasy setting gave it the originality i so crave. I have nothing bad to say about it. If the plot is a bit predictable, the execution more than compensates. You may see the twists coming, but they're pulled off so nicely you won't care. At least, i didn't. The book is a one and done, definitely hooks left for revisiting the character but nothing hanging at all.

Utterly worth your money and time. The earbook narrator(s) are excellent and, as i'm starting to see more often and loving, make good use of the opportunities the book gives them to interact.

On to the THE FORGE OF THE HIGH MAGE
