I'm in a Sanderson mood...and I've forgotten enough of SLA particulars to want to dive into a Re-read to get me outta this funk.

Moi, i'm just following the Tor recap/discussion articles which are quite fun.

I've legit forgotten even most of what I read in even ARCANUM, nevermind SLA proper, so I'm tempted by a full re-read anyways...It's probably going to be worth it for RoW.

I've legit forgotten even most of what I read in even ARCANUM, nevermind SLA proper, so I'm tempted by a full re-read anyways...It's probably going to be worth it for RoW.

The Coppermind fan site is handy for that. I just don't have the sheer hours necessary for a SLA reread, let alone working in Mistborn, Arcanum, etc.
(and i am just not going back to Elantris or Warbreaker barring some sort of serious mass Sanderson reread effort in my future retirement years or something).

Finished up Demon in White and City of Brass over the vacation and currently reading Kingdom of Copper.

Demon in White the third book of the sun eater series is pretty damned good, its a bit too long winded here and there especially in the action sequences but it is overblown space opera as it has rarely been seen before.

City of Brass while good is one of those books where the plot is painfully steriotypical but the surroundings, the world and the magic is rather interesting. It also ends in a rather interesting place which promise a lot for Kingdom of Copper which rather immidiatly delivers with a PoW character who was really missing from the first one and less steriotypical starting places for each of the others.

Short and simple. Quite enjoyable, again you can see where a lot of ideas have come from and worked through for other authors

CITY was fine. KINGDOM amps all kinds of things up nicely, is less predictable.
EMPIRE.... EMPIRE is amazeballs.

A Memory of Empire is a decent book - very small cast and beyond the one centrally relevant tech thing, there's not much of a space feel about it. One could easily port the story to be "person from Sri Lanka goes to London during the time just after the height of the British empire" and it would mostly fit. Very much a court intrigue, outsider learns the ropes type story with some likable characters.

I'm in for the sequel though.

Seems right so far Kingdom was very nice on to Empire. At the same time its hillarious how little the characters reflect on their own and their friends actions while condeming those of others, there is a lot of evil going around.

[EDIT] Kinda fun that Empire start with several of the evil people reflecting on just what the hell are we doing just cause it didn't go like they expected. O shit I killed more people then I intended bu hu congratulations on your insane evil alignment.

Correct. Looks like they go:
4. Tehanu
5. Tales of Earthsea*
6. The Other Wind

*Short stories, but contains a coda to Tehanu that's followed up on in The Other Wind.

Finished book 4 there.

Again, the actual resolution in the story is a few page snap, easy enough to call, but not in a detrimental way.

Definitely a lot darker than the other three, all the more so because it doesn't deal in high magery (if any Earthsea really does) but a look at humanitys dark side.
Probably the best of the four because of it
