Not entirely sure why I had it on my Kobo but started Angels and Demons on the plane this morning.

Very, but the pace keeps it moving and the story is well constructed. Not as brilliant as the hype made it when the overrated imnsho DA VINCI CODE was the Second Coming, pun intended, but enjoyable.

Finished the re-read of "The Fellowship of the Ring" last night. Moving on to "The Two Towers"
in commute, started "Surrender to the will of Night", the 3rd Instrumentalities of the Night book. This series is so good, if you're a history fan.

I did. I'm looking forward to wrapping up the trilogy.

Rounding the last hundred pages of THE DISAPPEARANCE OF WINTER'S DAUGHTER by Michael J. Sullivan, and it's more of the goods. Reading these books is like a wonderful little dose of classical fantasy with some mystery, some adventure, and some fantastic character building. If you like the adventures of Royce & Hadrian, you will not be disappointed by this entry!

I recently read The Crown Tower and absolutely loved it. Better than Revelations in some way IMO
I just finished Foundryside by Robert Jackson Bennett. While in many ways lighter than his Divine Cities books, this is still a very well written very fun book with great ideas.

I find that as he's written more books, he's grown as an author and Hadrian and Royce's characters become more and more comfortable for him to write in. Also, since his First Age books are growing the world building history of the series, so do the latter books about Royce & Hadrian and Co. become more complex.
I also years ago interviewed him over Skype (when he was still entirely self-published), and he could not be a nicer, and more humble dude in real life.

Finished Angels and Demons.
It was fast paced I'll give it that.
Outside of that it was an average enough 'thriller', like Mask of Troy the book is seriously undermined by the Author whacking himself off over his own historical "knowledge" on every single page

Just don't read THE LOST SYMBOL or INFERNO....your distaste for the author will only multiply. Both books I wanted to throw against the wall.

I only have my Kobo over with me, and for some reason I don't have the next Horus or Caiphas Cain book on it for some reason, so I'm now reading the davinci code. Already I can see the things that annoyed me in book one being more pronounced. Blegh

Finished Silvia Moreno-Garcia's novella Prime Meridian, which was fantastic. It's technically both sci-fi and about Mars, but it's not really. But I loved it. Reminded me quite a bit of her Signal to Noise but without the (literal) magic.
I also previously read Jane Yolen's Cards of Grief, which was kind of a like a Le Guin-lite first contact story. Quite decent, and it doesn't feel like it's 35 years old.

"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"
