Rounding the last section of MOVING PICTURES by Pratchett and it's been a fun ride through the Discworld movie industry. Detritus is the standout (obviously). Although I never thought I'd see Dibbler in more than a supporting role, it's interesting.

If you haven't read Soul Music yet, it's very similar to Moving Pictures but, you know, music. Just as good too.

Wrapped up "the Mongoliad" volume 3.

It does a lot to redeem the series. Pacing is better, and so is the action. That being said, the ending is way too open-ended. Meaning i'll have to go hunting down other Foreworld books now, at some point (probably in ebook form). Which feels like a bit of a cop-out, tbh.

Anyhow, next in commute- more Moorcock- "Gloriana". A quick fix, while I wrap up FoL at home, and then gonna brute-read the Deepgate trilo.

About a quarter into Steerwoman and its very interesting, quite a different type of plot premise

Didn't really read anything for a week or two there, with work and mafia and gokf taking up ll my time. Only really got back it yesterday.
Pace picks up quickly after a short set up.

Continuously. Actually I read it last evening and night with my laptop beside me with the map open there. Much easier. Basically when you are plotting world geography it can get pretty confusing.

How are you doing with the simple totally predictable plot/dialogue that you guess will unfold on each pg? It's so simple it's been quite fun. It reminds me of old school fantasy like Dragonlance. It's not deep at all and yet it flows off the pg. what pg are you on buddy?

As for character names, it took me a little time, then I figured it out.

Predictability is standard in Weber. I read him for the military organization and battles. After I finish this, which should be soon, as I can read at full speed, I will read 4-5 other books before coming back to him.

Ah c'mon BK I just came of a lengthy slow reading phase - I took my time with both FoD and FoL. It feels good to fast read. like stretching your legs

I am about to start Part IV of FoL. I fin myself reluctant to do so. Once I do, i'll be done my Malaz fix and have to wait for WiS. I've actually not read FoL for 2 days now

EDIT: since it's been a week or realizing when I'm avoiding smth and facing it, I DID power thru the end of FoL.

I would be lying if I said I loved it. It's a strong book, but it's inevitably the "second book in a trilogy". The really important stuff I want to know more about isn't given as much attention as I'd hope.

Double-post, since I finished Magic bites

loved the setting , since it's not really UrbF per se, but one of those magic v tech settings, just in a real world 5 sec into the future.

Good pacing, fun characters, nice action. Will follow.

Next gonna check out the first "Iron Druid" book, Hounded before getting back into smth more serious.

About 2 hrs into Kay's Children of Earth and Sky (right after finishing Hard Luck Hank: Suck My Cosmos - what a drastic change). So far it's great, has the feel of the Sarantine Mosaic. However, he's already dropped the F-bomb twice which is really out of character for Kay. Regardless, it's great and is on pace to be a top Kay book.

Also reading Meluch's Wolfstar which is lots of fun. I wish these were on Audible. I basically get to read for 15 minutes a day so I don't put so many down as I do on earbook.

If you liked Book 1, they only get better from here on out. Andrews is REALLY good at amping things up...and has a REALLY solid core group of characters to root for. It's a fun series to follow along with.

I've made the same realization that my reading time is very limited and will do audiobooks whenever possible. FYI, there is no whispersync yet for FoL. Just because there's an audiobook and ebook does not mean there is whispersync. One thing you could try is asking Amazon support if you can exchange the ebook for audiobook. Their support is incredible and have often sent me replacements or given me money without making me send the old one back. Or giving me money back without even asking for it. They go above and beyond.

Same goes for Audible. They have the best customer service I've ever had. They let me return whatever for whyever, whenever (whoever I deal with however I want.....wherever I am). They're supercool.

Kay's new book is awesome. On par with Sarantine Mosaic, which it references often.
