Funny you mention American Gods. I hit Gaiman's journal on a daily basis, eagerly awaiting the release of Anansi Boys. And I'm about to get a coworker hooked on Sandman.
I just finished Alastair Reynold's Resolution Space. So now I am skimming through Gardens of the Moon as preparation for MoI. And by the time I am done with that it will be time for the latest release from the wealthiest woman in the United Kingdom.

aha ... well the only reason i actually read his books was coz i went to Hay-On-Wye - the town of books (it has 39 bookshops, if u dont believe me ask Morgy) - and i found all the pieces of a trilogy for £1 each and i can never say no to a cheap book ...
dammit i want to re-read the Belgariad right now. but i cant, coz i must revise first. just one more week and then its done. i must be strong!
I'm off there in a couple of weeks And I've already got ten or fifteen books on my to-read pile. I'm gonna be sorted for years

Now onto Steph Swainston's "Year of our War". Only read the first 20-odd pages, but its pretty good so far, I hope it doesn't go downhill when I finally meet these "Insects". If they're just big grasshoppers I'm gonna get angry

Just finished American Gods by Neil Gaiman. I don't see where the hype comes from, and it should have been called American Roads. It was imho a bit pointless and boring, but maybe thats just meh.
Now on to Yann Martel's Life of Pi.

Didn't they make it up after the fifth book though?
No, it used to say "A Trilogy in Four Parts" on all the collected editions.

@Fool
Is that the same aurthor who wrote "The Etched City"? Or am I thinking of someone else?
@Duiker
I'm sure you'll enjoy it, it's very cleverly written...

The Scar had a great ending. Horribly ambiguous.

Finished:
- Sundiver by David Brin. Nice ideas, nice detective-style story, nice worldbuilding. Nothing really outstanding or not-seen-before, but all in all a good read (7+).
- Dying of the Light by George R.R. Martin. His debut, and it shows. The prose is nice enough, the characters good, the ideas are there. But it doesn't add up, tie in, work out.
Now I'm in dubio to begin in The Reality Dysfunction (with a vengeance), start Brin's Startide Rising (which I'm told is one of his best works, certainly compared to Sundiver) or do a "and now for something completely different" and give The Scar a shot (I really can't come into PDD though).

Just finished The Year of Our War by Steph Swainston.
About to start Cloud of Sparrows by Takashi Matsuoka. My interest was piqued by this thread on the ASOIAF board. It features Samurai, Ninja, Gunslingers & Mongol Hordes: what more to ask?
