Funny, I looked at Shogun while I was on the toilet yesterday, sounds interesting. (I'm not sure why we have a bookshelf in the bathroom either... )

Its done. Months after I bought I finally finished New Spring. The truth is I enjoyed it. It was just getting through the first hundred pages of junk before it become intresting which made it a hard read. I just wished we had more of Tams story. And my hate for Aes Sedai has increased as it does evry book. They are truly annoying. I am amolst willing to support the dark one if he will just beat them and teach them they dont know evrything. Also I have begun to consider whether the plot is an excuse to have RJ mess with sterotypes or whether messing with them drives the plot.
I may soon be getting a hold of the darkness thta comes before and loo forward to it.

@ Tiste - Strange and Norrell comes highly recommended by me. There's a thread about it in the Book Reviews forum, I don't think it has spoilers if you want a look.

Duiker: Yeah I like Maxx Barry's stuff too. The guy has an eye for satire doesn't he? Check out his first book 'Syrup' if you get the chance, very comic look at advertising etc.
Finished Reynold's 'Chasm City' but didn't think it was as good RS. Ran out of puff in the end, and the twists were far signposted far too much. The whole grub thing was a bit deus-ex-machina too, I must admit. Mehh, good start decent middle bad end. Now reading 'Memory' by Lois McMaster Bujold.

I've been reading "The Bourne Identity" by Robert Ludlum. I loved the movie and am loving the book too, even though it's vastly different than the film version.

I'm reading Midnight Tides again. I want to read The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Trilogy of Five, but my friend keeps forgetting to bring them to school to give to me. So I'm re-reading -_-'''

Last thing I tried reading was Hearts of Iron II manual
But then I tried playing the Platinean War scenario and got really pissed when Bolivia (which had a full military alliance with me) captured the capitol province of Paraguay after I spent hours and hours planning an attack on it :<
And there was no option to demand it back, nor to break the alliance and kick Bolivia's as* :<
So I don't play this evil game any more.
Anyway, I think I'll start reading Stapledon's Starmaker soon. Surprised I haven't read it yet.

The Almond Good stuff. and written from a perspective... hell, a world so alien to anything I have ever known. It'd be right up your alley shin. Could keep you entertained while we're away.
I suppose the rest of you might enjoy it too. But not if you get all angsty when people talk about kegels.
Shame the often-literate FOoly love isnt here anymore...

@Green Eyes - hey I'm reading Hawkwood's Voyage right now too!
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

Reading Jan Guillou's "Veine til Jerusalem" ("the road to Jerusalem"). It's a historical novel (well, based on real history, anyway...).
It's got crusaders in it.
