I have in fact travelled some fair size chunks of the world and roughly four out of seven seas and determined that yes, everybody IS looking for something.

I'd pre-ordered the Kindle version which got delivered to me today (01 Jul) which was the release date for me in India - not sure if it's different elsewhere

I'm surprised by how excited this makes me. I'll head out to try and buy it today.

I guess SE still has his hooks stuck deep in my soul.

I am at the cottage till tomorrow, and I have three packages waiting at home...one MIGHT be NOT WILLING from my preorder, I also know one is my Kickstarter of Michael J Sullivan’s latest NOLYN...so I have my reading sorted for at least a week or two once NOT WILLING arrives!

I'm in the middle of Artifact Space by Miles Cameron and very much enjoy it so far. Kind of steam punk like sci fi with massive Reynoldsian (that's a word now) space ships that trade between star systems.

They have a Dune sort of situation where swords are amongst the most efficient killing weapons, so ship to ship combat involves a lot of boarding. The ships are so big it’s often more efficient to drown them in soldiers than shooting.

Reco noted because Cameron's been on my radar for a while and i usually enjoy when authors rationalize this. Logically any future variation of space combat involves automated or remote controlled drone-type things at distances so great neither side ever 'sees' each other because air combat right now is already that, so i like seeing how clever writers get around that (Meluch) or lean right into it (Campbell).

I'm about 75 pages into Michael J. Sullivan's newest NOLYN, and there's already been one moment that resonates from the LEGENDS series and hit me like a tonne of bricks.

Spoiler

It goes without saying, but this book is fantastic just like all his other work. Such a treat to read.

I think I'm pretty close to putting Dreamblood down. I think I'm also pretty close to putting Gaunt 11 down to. I think I'm pretty close to reading nothing at all. I've not not had a book to read since age 11. Hopefully I snap out of this before it gets there but I just don't feel like it once I pick a book up these last 2 months or so.

This is what Kings of the Wyld did to me. Took me eighteen months to get a proper book in my hands again and not even Erikson could lift that funk.

I've started A Shadow on the Glass from Ian Irvine. Seems aight 40 odd pages in.
