Finished Touch by Claire North.
Excellent book, and wonderful characterisation, given how much the protagonist tries to be her host at times as well.
As a thriller, it's average, the twists aren't all that unexpected. But the concept and how well it is executed is what lifts this book up, I'd say it's still behind Harry August, but way ahead of 84k for enjoyment, 84k was just too bleak

While Harry August is quite clever (incredibly so), Touch is such a very human book. The Sudden Appearance of Hope is much along the same lines, if you haven't read that one yet.

Agree on the clever vs human comment Saltman, Id say August felt tighter overall for me is what pushes it ahead of touch. One scathing review of August wa that Harry was a flat emotionless character. Like, that's literally the point, that's his strong point, total detachment it enables him to survive and slip past vincent

Debating what to read on Kindle next. Got tons of stuff including an entire Dresden reread and also the Traitor/Monster Baru Cormorant books.
I really want to read some of my dead tree books but they're all in boxes now. Haven't read Kellanved's Reach or Blinding White but I don't think I actually have them and money is a bit tight... I'll have a think...

Further to the above I have been informed by Mrs Tiste that I actually have a couple of the latest Saxon Stories books which haven't been packed and I haven't read them yet. Might be time to delve into some Uthred again!

On the False Value audiobook every chapter has a jazzy little intro which I get why it's in, but it sounds like a b-movie American PI film intro. Only 3 chapters in so the main players are being set out.
The Hod King is as excellent as the Arm of the Sphinx, some lovely prose and depth of characters.

Just Finished NEVER DIE, which was very entertaining. It truly is a wuxia film in book form.... demons, sword duels, absurd martial arts techniques... it's fairly short, moves along quickly... I enjoyed. May check out the author's other work.
Now back INTO PRIORY OF THE ORANGE TREE. Yes, again.
Still eye rolling at times.... ffs monologuing... really? ....but the pace picked up and I actually want to know how it ends even if getting there is meh at times.

Motherfucker.... I don’t understand why my bookstore shitty as it is didn’t have it then. When I asked them at counter to order it it was nonexistent and 3 had been out awhile at that point. Is it the white cover issue?
It's not out in TPB in the US. It's only in the UK. The UK releases TPBs for all books way earlier than the US.
