I finished reading Heir of Novron. Riyria is a pretty decent trilogy, and it really got better with time. I will check out the rest of Sullivan's work.

Also does anyone here watch the show Impractical Jokers? Murr from that show released a monster thriller called Awakened.

I read enough tepid or outright negative reviews not to start it given my already mixed feelings about Williams.Which is odd because I loved his WAR OF THE FLOWERS which was portal fantasy w heavy urban fantasy elements.

Finished the first Kate Daniels book by Ilona Andrews earlier. Read the whole thing on a lazy Sunday.

Really satisfying but extremely cookie cutter urban fantasy formula. I really don't know what it is with self annihilating down on their luck good guy rogues and their need to mouth off at every authority figure or power player they encounter. Has nobody ever heard about diplomacy and tact? Sheesh.

But still a cool setting. I like the idea of magic and technology fluctuating and working like time zones. I kinda wish the shift was a two way street though, so that when magic wanes tech/science actually jumped forward in potential some how.

I like other settings ideas of tech having just as disrupting effect on magic as magic has on tech.

I've read all 3 of Tad's Bobby Dollar series and liked them. I like most of his work, so keep that in mind.

The Bobby Dollar books are fun. A nice take on Urban Fantasy.

I guess this counts as reading at the moment. I'm reading the Harry Potter books to my daughter at night. We're up to the Chamber of Secrets.

Finished "Ink"yesterday on the shore of lake Huron in the baking hot sun. The book gets better, and the last parts have semblance of a good pace, even if you are reading several stories at once. Not quite sure how I feel about the ending yet.

In commute tomorrow I'll be starting "The Temporal Void", in my attempts to push through that trilo.

At home.... I'm thinking it's high time to tackle another one of my projects for the year- a re-read of Tolkien's core stuff. so before i do that, I'll try reading "The Worm Ouroboros"

Finally got a copy of Tolkien's BEREN AND LÚTHIEN, which is exactly what it sounds like. Like CHILDREN OF HÚRIN, this sees Chris taking a portion of the SILMARILLION out of that book, and expands upon it using his father's notes and letters to give a more full narrative to the story. It's quite good, and it's interesting to read these more fleshed out, explanatory versions of these tales. I'm doing this now because I'm in prep for August's release of THE FALL OF GONDOLIN (easily one of my fav tales from Tolkien's work), and need to settle back into ME before that happens. Anyways, great stuff as always from the mind of Tolkien.

Reading Black Company book 5, Dreams of Steel. After not really enjoying book 4, I had this series on the chopping block. But I'm loving book 5 so far, so maybe I'll continue the series.

Yeah, its' interesting to see some of the gestationary stuff.

And yeah, FALL OF GONDOLIN is going to be my JAM! Hell, one of the best parts of the HOBBIT films (which I like for the most part, glaring flaws and all) was an actual onscreen mention of Gondolin, when Gandalf tells Biblo about Sting and Glamdring as having been smithed in Gondolin...I near crapped my fanboy pants, second only to the mention by Radagast of the Spiders being "the unholy spawn of Ungoliant"
