This. Show. Is. Fucking. Spectacular.

Holy crap....I didn't know how much I needed a classic episodic type Trek back in my life.

The first episode is nigh perfection.

And better yet, this has UNITED fandom....like Fandom has been riven down the middle between people who like the more recent content like DISCO, PICARD, and LOWER DECKS and those that hate it and prefer old Trek.

This is old Trek with the sheen of new trek from a visual angle and everyone seems to either like it or REALLY like it. I've never seen the like in Trek fandom.

Like Trek fans, you NEED to watch this show. It's so damned good.

Don't say this! I can't justify another streaming service and I can't get rid of Netflix or Disney because my kid is hooked and tv is a great parent. This is like the worst first world problem imaginable.

I can afford another streaming service but it's the principle, goddamnit. I must show some restraint.

I'm one of those apparently batshit crazy and fake star trek fans who actually like Discovery and, thought I haven't seen season 2, Picard. I'm entirely and completely dismissive of the argument that "New Trek" doesn't look at all like "Old (or "original") Trek for the simple reason that if Roddenberry could have made TOS and TNG look like Discovery and Picard, he would have.

But despite this, I have to agree with QT. First episode of Strange New Worlds was absolutely amazing! And though I like Bruce Greenwood's Captain Pike more than Anson Mount's, he still makes a great captain.

The rest of the cast was good too, I especially enjoyed Gooding's Uhura and, of course, Romijn's Number One.

The show feels optimistic, yet also aware that things can still suck. Which has always been one of my biggest gripes with "Old Trek". I've always felt that it was too optimistic, and any problems? Well, they definitely weren't inherent to the Federation, no no no, those are just, like, totally some corrupt Admiral with his own agenda. No no no, this time it was just some corrupt admiral....no no no no no this time it was just another corrupt admir...no no no no, it was totally just some corruptpaynoattentiontoallthecorruptadmiralsalliswell.

Honestly, I think Strange New Worlds has the chops to become the absolutely best Trek show of them all.
Screw you all, and have a nice day!

I stand by it.

It doesn't mean it will be the best, only that it started out incredibly strong, and if it keeps the steam going, it'll be the best.

I stand by that comment too. This is 100% the best inaugural episode in Treks history by a long shot.

Ha! The alien planet in the most recent episode is.....

My wedding venue.

See the tall windowed section on the right? My reception was in there. LOL. Pike and Una literally stand where my wife and I took a breather from dancing.

I've heard about extravagant weddings but having one on an alien planet is a whole new level, QT!
