Here's the Dramatis Personae:

EDIT: Since people keep reposting this list on r/Malazan with skepticism towards it source, it can be found here:

Remind me....she was from Y'Gatan and was Whiskeyjacks half-sister?

WJ's sister, he tells the lady marines in MoI that she ran away as a child to find n marry a prince, appears in Ygatan in TB as part of the Malazan garrison gone native and joined the Whirlwind, replaced Corabb as Leoman's second, mention of her triggers Fid remembering going w WJ and rescuing her from the Cult of Hood, disappears w Leoman courtesy of the QoD at the end of the seige in TB and not seen since.

Leoman mentions in Stonewielder that there was a bit of a disagreement about what they were going to do next, and she left him or something to do her own thing (or perhaps to do a different job for the QoD)

Anyone else reading this? Got the Kindle version and I'm about 25% in. Really wishing I had time to reread Bonehunters and maybe some of the ICE books (avoiding spoilers here)

I'm also struggling to see how this would intersect with Karsa!

Maybe it sets up something for the third book? Idk, wouldn't be the first time SE subverted our expectations. The only relevant question is: Is it good?

Oh yes. Surprisingly some tie-ins have now appeared. 33% in ... Feels very much like SE is replicating the GotM and DG formula. Genabackis, then Seven Cities... Tangential linkage

Similar vibe, yes, different setting as well as a different cast, tho the small moments of cross referencing is pretty great.
