Hello, this is my first post. I just finished DG and I am already reading MoI. About the chosen emperor, I think we don`t know all the powerful players that would try to take advantage of the situation. But, if it was Kalam to choose an emperor he would have to choose between Dujek or WJ. I think it would be WJ, but I am not sure if he has good diplomatic skills, it seems to me that Dujek would be better at that.

Surely WJ would be Emporer. nevermind diplomatic skills Dujek would be at WJ's side neway. The impression i got was that WJ would be Emperor. That and the fact hed have the support of every old soldier who would virtually make the recruits stand in line when the Empress is killed.

I would say you're right tiam. Many people wanted WJ to become emperor. No-one really knows why he declined it though, iirc.

He declined it becasue killing Laseen would've only further destabalised the empire as it was already in an uproar when Laseen took over. It's not a matter of WJ having support, there is also the matter of taking care of the Claw, which would've gone into an all out war with the rest of the empire had Laseen been killed. So for the sake Empire and to prevent further war and suffering and all that jazz, WJ simply nooded and did his duty all in the name of the Empire.

Could it be Paran? Our dear Master of the Deck? The one who doesn't like power, but keeps having it forced on him, it'd be funny....

I always assumed that WJ was the one Kalam and QUick ben have in mind to get the throne. It just makes sense that he was practically dethroned(well it was voluntary)

The rate Aragan is going, it'll probably be him on the throne (by 'it'll probably', I mean 'it should' ;))...
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

I would say that Quick didn't really have anone in mind because he knew kalam was just on a quest to convince himself of keeping laseen as emperor but if kalam had to choose i think he would have gone with WJ, but i could be wrong. AS for WJ declining the oppertunity to be the emperor after kellaved was kicked out for some reason i rember someone saying that he declined because he knew that after a takeover as bloody as laseens for him to take over right after it would just lead to a chain of bloody takeovers and the empire would probably not survive. I have no idea where this was but even if its not in the books this would be my opinion anyway.
