Just watched a few episodes of full metal alchemist on you tube. Im less than impressed. The idea of the alchemists is brilliant but the show is inconsistance in following its own rules. The law of equivalent exchange is said to be followed but it never is. The action scenes the staple of anime are over so fast and generally just boring

love ed in mushroom samba. the rest of the group get high on shrooms and ed saves the day.

Full Metal Alchemist was Cheap..Bought it..
Cowboy Beepob the Whole series was Cheap... Bough it..

No idea what im in for with the FMA movie..
saw the first CB ep, not too bad as well...

I didn't think so, no more than any other anime out there.

I just liked it, I can't say exactly why, I just really enjoyed the story, enough to not nit pick the inconsistencies.

Gankutsuo? I bought the first two discs of that, but never finished watching the second one - I just lost interest. I don't think they build the characters up enough to inspire any kind of empathy, or even dislike. Also, while the line drawings were okay, I wasn't very impressed with the fill patterns that the outlines moved over - it was a bit distracting, and drew attention away from the expressions of the characters.

I really enjoyed Fullmetal Alchemist - while the action is admittedly unimaginative in the first couple of episodes, the story is what draws you in.

I suppose I choose my anime more for the plot and graphics than for 'cool' fight scenes - if I were into blood and gore I would be watching Gantz. Last Exile is an example of good graphics and engaging plot (gotta love Dio :p).

Bebop will always be a classic for me. Bleach is awesome until they get to the Bountou arc. It seems to lose momentum - somewhat to be expected since the manga doesn't include the Bountou at all but continues with the Aizen DeathGod/Hollow arc.

I must look into Death Note - any Bittorrents up for it yet?

Other than Last Exile and Fullmetal Alchemist, my box-sets seem to tend more towards the Shoujo genre - Fruits Basket and His and Her Circumstances, Twelve Kingdoms (which I'm sadly also a bit bored with :p).

Some movies to definitely see are Voices of a Distant Star and The Place Promised in Our Early Days (Beyond the Clouds) by Makoto Shinkai - gloriously beautiful artwork, and moving stories.

I'm going to shut up now, as am rambling on and on and on... :p

I never got to see it with subtitles, but then, I'm not much of a fan of Osamu "God of Manga" Tezuka's style...

The style is very average I admit.

But its the themes that the movie so effortlessly touches that impressed me. Love, Robot AI, Marxist revolution, Parenthood and they are just the main ones. It wasnt till I saw it the second time around that I realised how well it did this as well.

Well, I guess having seen the original it didn't make so much of an impression on me this time around.

Oh, and I may have forgotten to mention the awesomeness of Ergo Proxy - it is AWESOME :p Also very intriguing with interesting character development and design :p

watched the original ghost in the shell movie last night. Cant get enough of it. The story, characters and action are all flawless.

They made the right step up with stand alone complex but it still cant quite compete.

It is good... I'm still waiting for the final 4 epsodes. But I can't wait till the conclusion. There is so much passion in this telling ... I love it.
