Would it be a good tactic to actually not score a VP in the hopes of avoiding unwarranted attention? Maybe that's what Khell will be going for, to not be the big bad.

Yeah, I'm not lamenting the response - I'm more lamenting my inability to deal with it. At the start of this round I felt reasonably confident that I could fend off most things, but there's just so many variables when four out of five other players conspire against you. I never thought that Twelve would actually use his Hero on a non-Imperial play, for example. And I never took into account Blend's Dominus Orb either.

In retrospect, I perhaps should have avoided going for the quick flagship point and used the resources required to build it to cement other positions.

I think this is certainly a tactic, but it's also a tricky balancing act. You don't want to fall too far behind, and you want to put yourself into a position where you can score multiple points very quickly.

I definitely didnt want to use my hero for Warfare but sometimes you gotta do suboptimal things to extend the game.

I was hedging my bets all over the place. I was trying to set up two potential 5-ship fleets, get the 12-influence SO if I could keep MR, get the have a planet in the same system as someone else controls a planet in if I couldn't keep MR, and claim the Amass Wealth PO by not using Vorhal and one of Ba'kal or Alio Prima.


That last one went out the window as soon as Blend invaded Ba'kal. But I could still claim two of the other three this round. When it became apparent that I wouldn't be able to stop Twelve, then it was all about having Ba'kal for the planet in the same system as another player SO plus the 5-ship fleet.

The SO was put paid to by Blend invading again, while the 5-ship fleet failure was just bad luck with so many ships being hit by Blend's and Twelve's attacks.

The other way to spin this is that it took two people pulling off once-a-game moves to stop me

Ha ha, I must have thought I was amending TG's at some point. I am on 5 VP's. Not as lofty as your 6 soon to be 7 or 8 if you were lying. All you are going to need is a lucky 2 VP and to score an SO.

If nothing untoward happens over the agenda phase and no crazy PO is selected, do you have thoughts as to what strategy you will be going for?

I'm torn between Technology and Warfare, but my mind may be changed.

How could I be lying, you can literally see all my SOs!!!

II have no concrete idea on strategy as yet, might depend on what the PO is like. But honestly mostly I haven’t thought about it. I originally picked Politics so as to be able to choose Imperial next round, but that’s no longer really an ideal play.
