I may not be planing to buy anything for a chunk of the year, but that doesn't mean I can't live vicariously through you lot, :D

What are people looking forward to, in terms of games this year? Are you planning on getting new systems/GPUs? Any indie marvels you wanna share? this is the place.

Personally, My big one would be Bloodlines 2, if that game ever makes it out of dev hell. Getting my hands on the original Nier's remake would be nice, too, but since SQUEEENIX is pricing that one at full-fat 80 CAD, it'll have to wait.

a ton of indie games from my wishlist have a 2021 release date, mostly Metroidvanias or top-down Zelda likes. I'm really digging the fact that most indie devs have moved on to 16- and 32-bit for their retro pixel-art colour palette, since I did't have any fond nostalgia for 8-bit art. Also, more devs are doing the dark Gothic theme, which is totally my jam.

What are your gaming plans, hopes and dreams for 2021, fellow Malazites?

God of War: Ragnarok.

I've never played any if the Hitman games, but I've read a lot of buzz surrounding the new installment coming out this month.

[EDIT] Not sure if the new GoW game is going to be released in 2021 though

Oh yeah, Elden Ring.

Do a search for "Elden Ring concept art".

A God of War story is not done before every single god is dead.

There's a lot of stuff still to be told. Kratos vs Thor's going to be badass - Assuming they don't just become friends.

Boy has a hell of a future ahead of him as well after the revelations during the ending.

Supposedly the coming year is Nintendo's Year of Zelda 35th anniversary celebration. Just like last year was the Year of Mario, which got hampered by the C-virus.

Speculation is that Breath of the Wild 2 will come out during the fall. I suspect it's also likely we'll see some package similar to last years 3D Mario collection, just with Zelda. Most likely a Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess and Majora's Mask bundled in a physical copy and sold for a limited time.

I hope we at least see them porting the two Zelda remasters from the Wii U - Twilight and Wind Waker. Never played those two.

I'd love it if they'd port some of the handheld Zelda's to the Switch - 4 seasons, Spirit Tracks, etc.

There'll likely be some strange Online Zelda game as well.

Otherwise I'm looking forward to getting a PS5 and a gaming PC - It's sort of a stop gap for playing games in 2021.

Looking at the 2021 release schedule, there's a lot of great stuff in the pipeline:

https://en.wikipedia..._in_video_games

JANUARY

Hitman 3
, which is actually a collection of all 3 games - which is cool because I only played halfway through the first one.

FEBRUARY

Outriders is coming out start february but I don't have much hope for that brown shooter. It looks so ... Uninspired.

Werewolf: The Apocalypse - It looks like it could be a descent hack and slash action game. Never heard about the Werewolf universe before the game was announced.

Super Mario 3D World - Really looking forward to this. A good Mario game is like pure heroin.

Overwatch 2 is coming out at the end of the month - I never got into the first Overwatch, it was a really fun team shooter but with out a campaign or an upgrade/reward progression system I just didn't feel any desire to play it more than a few time.

MARCH

There's a new Harvest Moon coming out. Never played those games but I might want to look at it, if it's anything like Stardew Valley, which I believe SV is inspired by.

Returnal by House Marque is coming out in March. I hate the title but I think it looks cool

Disco Elyssium: Director's Cut - I really want to play this one. Supposedly it's the second coming of RPG games.

APRIL

Nier Replicant - I've been holding off playing Nier Automata before playing this. Hope it's good.

MAY

Deathloop by the Dishonored studio - Hope this is cool, it has a ton of style. Maybe it looks a bit too much like a reskinned Dishonored.

And then there's all the unscheduled stuff:

I'm really looking forward to seeing Warner Brother's new Batman (family) game, Gotham Knights, and the Hogwarts game - I think they look really promising.

Farcry 6 - I HATED Farcry 5 so I'm a bit weary of this title but I do love open world shooters.

Sony probably releases Gran Turismo 7 and Horizon 2 this year. That'll be exciting.

Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart might be good. Really enjoyed the Remake based on the movie that came out a couple years ago.

If Halo Infinite ever gets done I'd love to play that. When I get my hands on a new PC I plan on playing through the Master Chief Collection and finishing off with Infinite.

I could see myself playing the Mass Effect Trilogy re-masters but who has the time for a three RPGs sandwiched together?

Psychonauts 2 - Loved the first game. Few games can pull of humor and wimzy like Double Fine.

I'm too much of a pussy to play Resident Evil Village but I'll watch the let's plays.

Maybe Dying Light 2 comes out of development hell this year?

And if it comes out this year, I'll play the Cyberpunk 2077 GOTY/finished cooking version when that comes out.

Warhammer Total War 3 might be a 2021 release too, though I'll have to buy a new laptop if so I fear.

Another thing I am looking forward to this year is the monthly games for PlayStation Plus. The games over the last year + have been really solid. Hoping that continues.

What is Nier Replicant?

Staying away from spoilers.

It's a "1.5" version of the original Nier, that's a... prequel to Automata? I think?

I know my older brother is looking forward to Psychonauts 2. He's not really a video game person. He casually plays a game here or there. He played the original Psychonauts and raved about it at the time. I never played it, but always wanted to try it because how much he gushed over it. I may have to investigate.

It has some really unique levels. I still remember the Milkman level.

This on anyone's radar? Xbox exclusive, so I'm probably never going to play it. Snazzy trailer though.

Medium sounds interesting, since it's a 3D game where you're playing in "2 worlds" simultaneously.

Gonna check it out eventually, probably. Not in the near future, though.

Returnal new combat trailer looks promising. Reminds me of something, like a mashup of styles. Can't put my finger on it, but maybe from a side shooting game with the light/laser visuals, but distilled into a shooter? I'm not sure, but it does remind me of something. Looks pretty nifty.

I'm not hot on Returnal being a kind of rogue-like shooter but I am digging those tentacle monsters those are some creepy next gen looking enemies.

I guess there was a Resident Evil showcase yesterday. A new trailer for Resident Evil Village came with it. I don't play a lot of horror and/or horror survivor games. I'm not too bothered by the fright element, but damn, these recent Resident Evil games give me serious pause when considering whether I would play them or not. They have that blend of horror that really seems to resonate, which is the kind that I am a scaredy cat about. The creepy factor is pegged on 10.

Apt, why do you think Overwatch 2 is coming out in Feb? I know thats when blizzcon is, and its possible, but there is absolutely nothing set in stone that we get anything but some news about Overwatch 2 at blizzcon.

I was just going by the Video Games Wikipedia page:

https://en.m.wikiped..._in_video_games

I can see Overwatch 2 has been removed since. Or maybe I was hallucinating.
