I'll probably add to this when I think about it some more, but here's a starter:
Money/Financial- 2019 was actually kinda good with this. I got rid of my student loan, and the only other excessive debt is the money I borrowed from my parents for down payment on my flat. (not counting the mortgage itself, cuz that's just a fact of life). I didn't spend nearly as much on travel and books.... but I spent a ton on games, and also I built a new PC.
So basic goals for 2020:
-limit my spendings on personal entertainment (books and games) to under $250/month
-Maintain a balance above 10K by end of year, while increasing the money I'm paying back on the loan.
-I'm planning a vacation trip for September, and I want to have about 3-4 K set aside for that.
Health- towards the end of the year I REALLY slacked off on this, due to combination of work and dealing with the condo/tenants
Basic goal is:
-lose weight again, get back into the regular weight range of 81-83 kilos
-resume swimming twice a week
-exercise every morning
-get back to proper sleep patterns- go to bed no later than 1 AM on a weekday, and shut the computer down at 11:30 on a weekday
Leisure
-Stop buying so many games; play more of the games I own
-Read all the books I have at home and buy less books until I do
-improve my passing with the left foot and participate in meaningful offensive plays at least 3 times per game.
Suffice it to say, 202o was a bit of a mess in most aspects. No social life, excessive leisure spending, and some... interesting financial decisions (we bought into a pre-built house project) mean that things have not been going according to plan.
Add to this my tenants informing me they're definitely moving out, and prospect of renovation spending, and life isn't looking so rosy.
Basically, the first 6 months are gonna be financially rough, because I need to shell out a bunch of cash for repairs (and paying condo fees& mortgage until I can rent the place out), on top of paying my annual license fees and coming up with another chunk of the house deposit by late April.
So, in the spirit of financial planning
No spending on games and books (other than thru gift cards) for the first 6 months of the year
The only personal spending budget I'm allowing myself is paying for pool time (once those re-open), because that is very much my sanity/Zen time.
-Ideally, I still wanna have 3-4K banked away as vacation fund by end of the year- I have a decent chunk now, but I'll be dipping into that for the next while.
Since we are communally building up a downpayment fund, my goal is still to put at least 12k into that- the original plan was 20k this year, but that feels less feasible RN.
Having social life be on hold should be beneficial to the financial stuff, so not planning on resuming living anytime soon.
-really need to start exercising in the morning again, and, relatedly, going to bed at a decent hour.
