Watched it this morning. I can see multiple reasons why people would call it an improvement on the Whedon one, since that was a mess and this is a movie, but I still found it pretty lousy overall, just for different reasons. All the improvements come saddled with all of Snyder's requisite boorish, craftless grasps at majesty, his readily apparent (growing?) disinterest in human beings, and his mind-numbing obsession with tableau visuals. Not to say he never succeeds in what he's attempting -- Mad Superman is still a good idea and still works, Cyborg's stuff is mostly good (it's still kinda generic and sketched out, but at least it exists), and the action scenes are all coherent if only modestly thrilling.

So there's more good, bad, and ugly in terms of volume, and in pretty much equal measure. I'd still put it in the bottom 3 for DC, and probably in the same slot -- above BvS and below Suicide Squad. D+ I guess?

Not to rain on anyone's parade who did like it.

Hey, I'm trying to avoid getting vivisected one sentence at a time by QT -- whom I love and cherish and would usually welcome such a thing -- but not over a Zack Snyder movie. Not this one.

I will add one more positive and one more negative:

Negative: Totally agree that the music cues in this were awful. Intrusive even in the good scenes, like the Flash intro.

Positive: I did appreciate the recurring witness sketch of the parademon.

The only thing I was going to mention was your complaint about mind-numbing interest in tableaus....while also liking Rian Johnson’s work...which is all strung together tableaus and vignettes.

QT vs Worry: famous rap battles of history.

I'm 3 hours in. I have managed to squeeze it into 1 hour chunks so far. Not sure when I'll find time for the final hour. My main takeaway is that as per the Whedon version I've had Magic Carpet Ride stuck in my head since it started.

My other takeaways are that this one is actually watchable and I would like to make a terribly crude joke about mother boxes and Jason Momoa. But I won't.

Finally watched it.

Man that was a bloated mess. better than JW version, but that's not really hard.
As a story piece, it flows and makes much more sense that JW, and has much better character developments. That's about it for praise

A simple way to trim half an hour off the movie, save slow mo and bullet time shoots for the flash only. Fuck me Zack, learn that over using a technique robs it off impact, like every third shot was a slow mo or an overly long face pan/zoom with conflicting emotions on face.

Score was over the top, repetitive crap, this ties into the insufferable over use of slow mo shots.

There's a common joke that if it weren't for his constant use of slo-mo, Snyder's movies would be much shorter.

Fuck 'em, it was funny.

Sometimes ubernerds believing they're "gatekeepers" of some IP really need to chill the fuck out. Or at least, find a happy medium.

I'm glad I don't find any of the social media movement stuff interesting and have zero desire to look into what it is about, let alone participate.
