We're doing both NoK and BH in June.

Aye but I meant to confirm the order of reading them. NoK first?

Yes NoK first, since NoK introduces Temper and what ever else converges in BH.

This is so dark, and so very funny.

"Since few criminals ever managed to make it across the canal with their burden, distance and number of strokes provided the measure for wagering bets. As did Risings, Flailings, Flounderings and Vanishings."

Also I love the way 'Ublala Pung' rhymes nicely with 'well hung.'
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

I felt pretty sorry for Ublala Pung in these Me Too times. He was just a sextoy for those women and Tehold minimalized his plight by saying he was living the male dream.

Then I laughed.

I'd forgotten how much I love reading everything to do with Tehol.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

I can't wait to read about Tehol becoming Emperor.

Doesn't he meet the Adjunct... wearing a blanket?

Doesn't he meet everyone wearing a blanket?

Sometimes he's wearing nothing at all.

You think that, but he's the emperor, he's just wearing new clothes

Damn but Rhulad reminds me of Trump.

The child hiding behind a facade, acting in a way he perceives a leader should behave, his (unearned) power giving him freedom to take what he wants and punish those who speak out against him. His early days as Emperor are horrible, he's guided by the CG but the desires and fears are his own.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

I think that's an apt description, they both act how they think a leader should act, but not how a good leader does.

A poor man's idea of a rich man.

A weak man's idea of a strong man.

A stupid man's idea of a genius.

Oh man I forgot this, pure gold.

‘Anything I can do for you, Shurq, I shall. Did you know you have a spike of some sort in your forehead?’
‘That’s my problem, you idiot.’
‘Ah. Would you like me to pull it out?’
‘I don’t think that’s a good idea, Tehol.’ ‘Not worse, surely, than leaving it there.’ ‘The issue is not as clear as it appears to be,’ Shurq said. ‘Something is holding it. It’s not nearly as loose as one would hope.’

‘Are you concentrating on it?’
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Finished!

Damn but I think that's my favourite. It needs all the previous books to work, but it works so well, it's so well crafted from start to finish.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Finally finished this one. The final 500 or so pages are so dense with action. It went quickly.

The Errant comes off as a sympathetic character, even despite how he fucks over Brys. Without that nudge to cloud Brys' mind, the entire story would have pivoted onto a different track.

Fuck The Errant.

EDIT: Mael-as-Bugg and Mael-as-Mael are both so entertaining. When will we get to see Mael pound Mallick into dust!?

Does the errant push Brys? I got the impression he was merely witnessing and not intervening. I don't particularly think The Errant likes the Edur or the Crippled God.

I think he says something along the lines of, it's his nature, he couldn't help himself.

It's almost like when there's a moment that a lot of things pivot on; where a single choice could have momentous changes, he can't help but tip that balance.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

But that doesn't determine which way the Errant might nudge.
