Just a quick question. In Book #2 there is a paragraph. I just can't figure out a phrase in it:

"... Saddled steps rose along one wall to a solid-looking door. At the base of the wall opposite, round indentations ran in a row on the floor, each of a size to fit a cask or key. Rust-pitted hooks depended on chains from the ceiling at the room’s far end..."

What does "to fit a cask or key" mean? Can someone please explain this?

Two thoughts... either it's a typo and key should be keg, or it means the indentations were two different sizes.

I think it's the former, a typo.

Or it suggests different sized dents, ie some are big enough for a cask, some are small enough for a key. But it's an odd turn of phrase i don't think we've ever seen elsewhere which makes me think typo most likely.

Just reached this passage on my Kindle and I can confirm that it's a typo. In my version it says cask or keg.

Seems like a likely typo. G and Y are pretty close on most keyboards.
Laseen did nothing wrong.

I demand Telorast & Curdle plushies.
