I'm going into London tomorrow for the first time since the pandemic started. We're feeling kind of invincible as a family as it's been through the house and we all survived. The tube might make me reassess.

We've come into central today too but doing train only. Tube feels risky to us, but also trains easier with buggies.
Para todos todo, para nosotros nada.

We're going to be in London in a few weeks for a thirtieth birthday.

Driving down from Scotland, this will be our first outing really since lockdown began, not really sure how I feel about it.

Ready want out and about, but.....

Tsk, those ball containers aren't going to refill themselves.

On the driving range, I mean. ;)

I would suggest either do it and be at peace with no covid precautions or don't do it at all. Today we saw about 20% wearing masks on the tubes and trains, in shops and restaurants and less than 10% in the aquarium we went to. If I had been in the aquarium before having covid in our house I would have had a heart attack and I'm pretty laid back about covid - proper tourist volumes of people, enclosed underground space, loads of dribbling kids. I'm going to guess that all of the places outsiders in London go to will be the same.

On the plus side, my kid LOVES sharks and he had the best time.

Appears I've got to the losing my sense of smell part of Covid.

And my wife now apparently has it.

Brutal. So sorry to hear it. Here's hoping that everyone mends soon.

If you can grab an oximeter at a local pharmacy, that might be a good thing to get for your partner.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

I can't leave the house until Sunday at present though I think my local one does delivery so I might give them a call tomorrow. What's an oximeter?

Measure oxygen levels AFAIK.

The measuring oxygen through your finger things/oximeters helps if there's any sudden turns for the worse - which would be really useful information for a pregnant woman + parents of a little one.

Cool, it's a green light to use any of the vaccines as a booster. Dang, the Moderna booster raises antibody levels 76-fold if you had the single shot J&J vaccine.

That study used a full dose of Moderna, but the Moderna booster is only a half dose. (Though if you can find a site offering Moderna and not requiring ID it should be easy to get a full dose booster if you're willing to lie....)

I'd say our boosters will be Pfizer

On a whim I decided to check if there were any updates on the expected release date of the Razer mask (99% BFE, transparent around the mouth, programmable RGB lights, internal fans). Had signed up to be notified on release a long time ago... turns out it was released two days ago. And quickly sold out. Fucking Gmail put it in spam, even though I received emails from the same address before and after... just that one got filtered. WTF....

They did away with the planned voice amplification too.

Oh well, probably worse my P100 masks anyway. Not sure if the fans would significantly reduce the risk from temporarily taking the mask off to drink. Would make socializing easier, especially at loud crowded bars and clubs, but I'm probably better off not going (at least until the pandemic dies down around here)....

Apparently they sold out almost immediately.

But eBay still has one being auctioned... current bid '$2,050.00

Do they offer a face fit with the product? Otherwise it will just be as effective as a standard mouth cap anyway.
Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

Exactly.
Any PPE that hasn't been faced fitted is a gimmick. If you have a beard most are not rated either.

My nutjob sister and brother-in-law’s reaction to hearing my mom has terminal cancer was to immediately say that the vaccine gave it to her.

So the answer to “will I ever speak to my sibling again?” Is fuck no. Never.

How ghoulish need you be to use the illness of your own mother to try to reinforce your conspiracy BS.
