@ Nom: I will pay you double what IH is offering to make me Speaker instead (2TG, 6 votes).
@IH: No ill intentions, I just really want to have as much choice of cards as possible. On the other hand, I will rescind my offer to Nom if you agree to leave me the card of my choice.

@Khell we could strike up a deal this round if you are up for it? If you could place the Alpha wormhole where would you put it? Could you see yourself using it to bring reinforcements to Rex? I'm looking at Lazar possibly for my 4th planet with that trait, or 6th planet in the control the system or even the yellow tech next round. It holds a few possibilities for me. I'd only move there with a carrier but would need assurances you'd not be looking at Tau Bootis or anything like that. I haven't thought about it much further than that as there are a few opportunities elsewhere I could look.
Apt is the only one who reads this. Apt is nice.

I could be willing to let you hold Lazar - maybe - for a VP this round, but I would need quite strong assurances and payment. I need Lazar too, but with Imperial I can claim that objective before status phase, so its not too troublesome.
The problem is the wormhole remaining there. Too close to my homeworld. I would need you to block the alpha wormhole. I would need assurances that you wouldnt send anything else through. I would need payment. I would need you to move out first thing next round (and/or assent for me to destroy your units). I would need you to move one carrier and one infantry only.
Let me think about it.

That depends what card do you want?
I don't think 3rd choice will be worth a tg and 3 votes, so if you want to pay 2tg and 6 votes for speaker go ahead.
Alternatively if twelve agrees to leave me 1st choice, pay the fee for me and I'll pick politics, make twelve speaker and you get two first three picks for the price of one.

This is my 5th game and I've yet to pick politics. I probably underrate it more than I should but most of the rest of you seem to overrate it. Politics as first pick should only be done if it wins you the game the following round.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

One first four (as leaving a choice for Nom, no?) and one first three
So at the moment my offer is still on the table Nom.

If I'm speaker that's one 2nd choice for you (assuming you don't want politics, Nom picks, I have to pick politics and then you pick) and one 3rd choice, after I pick twelve but whatever I'm not that bothered and twelve doesn't seem interested.

I haven't really been paying that close attention to the speaker negotiations. Am I interested in what exactly? And at what cost?

Politics is great. Not all strategy cards are created equal and having your first choice of them can be quite valuable. Seeing which agendas come up, drawing some AC's without spending the token, and the ability to sell Speaker for some cash or favors are all just nice bonuses that, added together, make it so I consider it a better than average SC.
That said, it's pretty rare to see it picked first so early. And it looks like that might happen twice in a row! I guess it protects one from the dreaded lastpick situation, but losing out on a top tier SC just so you can pick it later doesn't sound like a great deal to me. Not that I'm complaining about being 4th pick rather than potentially lastpick next round!
@Morgoth: While I hadn't agreed to anything with you yet, the L1 consider your early evac of Wellon a good faith gesture and will acquiesce to your request. You'll owe us the wormhole card as soon as you get it back, and in return Wellon is yours and under our protection this round. In the future please try and find the time to read our communications more carefully, though. We tried and failed to negotiate a transaction with you twice, now.

I forget how we ruled action cards and riders.
Did we say action cards are drawn after we play riders etc to avoid the situation where everyone is waiting for action cards and then playing riders?
Basically if i draw over 7 in the status phase, can i play riders already in my hand at the same time to reduce the number i have in hand?
Ie is it
I have 6 in hand, including one rider, i draw 2, play the rider and end the status phase with 7.
Or
I have 6 in hand, including one rider, i draw 2, discard 1 as I'm over the 7 card limit and then play a rider so i end the status phase with 6?
I think we are playing the first variant as we have been playing that riders are played simultaneously with the draw so drawn riders can't be used, but I'm not 100% as I've never been in the situation where i might need to discard an action card.

Do you have a cultural you could hand me for 1 turn . My idea is taking it as my last turn, and moving away as my first action next turn with my zero/0 initiative

@ Tatts:
Let's get our plans sorted, if we are going to make a deal, so we're not holding everyone up when my turn comes along. Here's my opening questions/offers.
1) What turn would you move to Lazar?
2) It's one carrier and one infantry only.
3) Lazar's not worth much resource-wise, but the wormhole and the yellow tech are notable, plus I'm ensuring you a VP, so how about your SftT?
4) Are you able to place a blocking ship in the alpha wormhole? This is as much for your and your neighbours' benefit as mine, as you're opening up some tasty targets for me should I ever decide to become aggressive.
5) @ Morgoth: how are we going to ensure you don't understandably take advantage of a new wormhole being placed? If you give the token to me next, I'll place it where you like (other than in my territory).
If we can't come to an agreement, then I will just be moving ships to defend my planets.
