It's looking like Orban might be voted out. Cue "stolen election" etc very soon.

The key question is not whether irregularities will occur, but whether they will be widespread and coordinated enough to alter the overall result in Fidesz's favor, and whether under such circumstances the election can still be considered free. While concerns about extreme scenarios — such as outright annulment of the election result or refusal to transfer power — pop up in public discourse, such moves would carry immediate and harsh political and economic risks for the government and the country as such. EU member states would be forced to condemn and punish a stolen election, while markets would react harshly to the legal uncertainty such a move would trigger. If one or the other party's lead — based on the polls, that of Tisza — is not clear and significant, a more plausible scenario is one in which the election remains formally free but is contested in specific districts, potentially leading to extended disputes in its aftermath and delays in the formation of a new government.
[...] political instability cannot be ruled out and may evolve into a crisis by next spring. The new government will need the green light of the Fiscal Council — a monitoring body made up of Fidesz-loyalists, namely the presidents of the national bank, the State Audit Office, and the Fiscal Council itself — to adopt the country's next annual budget by March 2027. If the Council withholds its support, the president may dissolve the parliament and call early elections. This possibility increases the urgency of meaningful restoration and revival of democratic institutions.

So the question seems to be whether they'd risk the economic and political fallout from blatantly overturning the election instead of trying to stall, obstruct, and call early elections next spring.

They have a lot in common.
Orban has been the most prominent one, but unfortunately there have always been at laest two or three similar European leaders covering each other's back. It's a big reason why it's been so hard to take action against any one of them.
If it hadn't Orban then over the past decade then it would have variously been Slovakia, Romania, the Czech Republic, or others.

He conceded.
Did not see that coming, must have been such a comprehensive floor wipe he had to

With 66 percent of votes counted, the opposition Tisza party was on course to win 137 seats — more than a two-thirds majority — with Mr. Orban's party, Fidesz, expected to win just 55.

Wouldn't have stopped Trump though... he'd just say that a landslide victory by his opponents is proof they must've cheated. Hacked the voting machines etc. False comparisons with dictators getting 99% of the "vote" in pseudo-democracies.

Just makes Trump look even worse. Also this is hungarys story and I don’t want to diminish that but another massive L for MAGA. The love touting Orban as the go to example of what America could be under strong leadership.
Congrats Hungary.

I won’t be shocked if he claims election fraud on Orbans behalf? Volunteers to run for them next election. Says Orban is a great guy but he doesn’t know him personally. Mentions it but confuses either Orban, Hungary or both names.

It's another country (for example Canada) where trump has basically ensured that his preferred candidate loses. People don't like his meddling. Massive voter turnout from what I'm reading. Hopefully with less obstructive behaviour from Hungary, some progress might be made in various arenas. Yes Slovakia (I think) are still pretty pro-Putin but I was always under the impression that they were more acting in Hungary's shadow.

The Orban loss really should be rising alarm bells to the project 2025 chuds in the States...the pipeline for Orban is the same one trump used through Paul Manafort...rejected soundly...by the Hungarian people.

It's always easy for countries to stay in the shadow while it is available but that equally makes it hard to judge how they'll behave once it's gone. I'm not very optimstic but we'll see. Slovakia remains heavily dependant on Russian energy.
