Not that i may have just watched this three times in a row or anything but
OMG THAT WAS GREAT.
My sole note being i wish the finale was twice as long simply bcs it was such a pleasure to watch.
It's funny to watch something like this being familiar, distantly, w those involved. The author Siobhan Carrol is someone I have chatted online w simply bcs I sent her a thank you for the original story and she was nice enough to reply. Tamsin Muir i know from her LOCKED TOMB series and a couple of similar, brief exchanges early on when GIDEON just became a thing. Point being I have read them both so it's kind of neat to see both influences on this short film. It's a glorious story and I don't think Muir had to do much, but otoh adapting this could have gone very very wrong if certain parts ran too long or certain elements were lost, and that's where Muir clearly did excellent work.
Tnx for the heads up QT this was an unexpected joy today.
Will watch the rest asap, I love this series.

interesting - the article vacillates between excusing him bcs of his childhood and trying to accuse him without actually saying anything he did was wrong.

CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE MINI KIND - tried a little too hard to be clever, wasn't nearly as clever as previous 'mini' shorts (heehee see what i did there?), no one needed to see the cow thing.
SPIDER ROSE - VERY solid sf story, beautifully animated. Can see the echoes of SWARM, a pleasure to watch.

I think I land on "he wrote this stuff himself in his own book, admitting to it" and that's enough for me to write him off. That said, I have never found the RHCP's anything but irritating as music anyways, so no great loss personally.

The one guy beating an alien with the butt of his rifle only to blow his own head off made me guffaw...LOL

...and the rest...
400 BOYS - QT captured my reaction exactly....
Quote
I had a blast with this one, it was like THE WARRIORS meets Lovecraft. Animation was unique and kinetic. Loved it.
...and also, 'The Galrogs' was just pure fun genius.
THE OTHER LARGE THING - i knew this was Scalzi without even seeing the credits. Good fun.
GOLGOTHA - predictable but with some clever twists. great dialogue.
SCREAMING OF THE TYRANOSAUR - shallow but VERY nice to look at. mr beast's voicework did nothing special.
HOW ZEKE GOT RELIGION - Flawless. Does everything it aims for beautifully. exactly what i want from a ww2 Cthulhu short story. i need to look up the writers' and director's other works.
SMALL APPLIANCES - i laughed.

that sequence where the cops wipe themselves out was funny but i thought it just went from silly to dumb to stupid blunt statement about americans and guns from there on... something something easy targets something...
