Netflix has launched - today! - a new animated anthology series called Love, Death and Robots. It has 18 episodes, ranging from 6 to 20 minutes in length in a variety of styles. Two are original, the rest are based on existing SF short fiction, including three stories by John Scalzi, two by Alastair Reynolds, one by Mark Kloos, one by Joe Lansdale and one by Peter F. Hamilton (Sonnie's Edge from the Second Chance at Eden collection, set in the Night's Dawn universe).

I've seen the first three and very impressed so far. The animation is excellent, the scripts are pretty good and the stories quite effective. Hoping the rest keep up the good work.

Watched "Shape-shifters". 'Twas very good.

No sexbots though.

We have actual sex in them (these are very much NSFW films). The second episode had a sex AI (kind of) and the third one had lots of robots and cats, but no sex of any kind.

I remember reading 'Sonnie's Edge' years ago. They did a great job of bringing it to the screen.

Elsewhere on Netflix ... Idris Elba in 'Turn up Charlie'????? Not that I'm interested in watching it, but this doesn't seem like a thing he'd do. Not that I know him of course, but ... I dunno, maybe he wanted to do something goofy and "off-brand"? :ermm:

He wrote and starred in a low-key comedy based on his upbringing last year, and he's been DJing for longer than he's been acting, so it's not out of nowhere for him. He just likes to do lots of different stuff I guess, and if DJing is involved all the better.

You seen his recent rap debut, yeah?

No, I just know of his more serious acting stuff. Huh, there you go. You think you know a guy ...

Oh man I just watched Sonnie's Edge. Brutally violent, excellently animated, dark and harrowing story, nice pair of animated boobies. Basically had everything.

Except Sex Bots.

SUCKER OF SOULS is hilarious, gory, and paced like a freight train. Soooooo good.
