So does anyone have any ideas as to what secret objective Morgoth is trying to score? He's admitted that he can score one this round and if there is something we can do about it it's probably worth trying.

I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

I thought Assault cannon only works if the opponent has 3 non fighter ships? Or is it just ships in general or units?

IH has a crazy number of TGs. I think the only way to keep him from winning is to take his Homeworld.

There are 4 2 vp primary objectives I can conceivably score. If they don't come out I need to get a secret objective I can score of which there are 8 which are vaguely feasible.

It's by no means certain!
