American Eagle's stock soars after Trump praises Sydney Sweeney ad

[...] calling it "the "HOTTEST" ad out there." Shares of American Eagle surged; they closed more than 23% higher. [...] He also previously described Sweeney ad as "fantastic" after he was told she was a registered Republican.

[...] Even with Monday's gains, the stock is down 21% this year. [...] It lost $85 million during the three months that ended in May, with sales falling 3%.

And while Trump's words are boosting the company's stock, [the company] told investors on an earnings call in May that tariffs would cost the company $40 million

This is just further evidence of how far gone the USA is as a society...the mad king cannot seemingly be stopped.

I don’t think that comparison was as one sided as your post wants it to be. Certainly publicly I ll actually give you that. Privately though I mean it really doesn’t seem so and I definitely don’t agree people were “melting down” they were laughing at a very out of left field sponsorship of a brand associated with the working man and horny college kids of whose 99.4% male consumers haven’t ever worn a dress except for losing a fantasy football bet or frat hazing and that ribbing lasted for a while yes. You ll say that boycott didn’t work out but then why did they distance themselves from that ad? I don’t think the right alone put that big a squeeze on their wallet.

Now say whatever you want about Kid Rock(I only like Only God Knows Why) but he did unleash some very funny one up manship over on the Twitter. I particularly like anything to do with Tannerite and steamrollers. Boom, smush.

I do find your attempt to draw my blood by cutting up my post in a neg way to better fit your side v side interesting. I said other things in it and not once did I go right vs left.

I was talking about publicly. So we agree. Privately is not something either of us could quantify. I was referring to the Fox News/NewsMax/right wing Twitter/Republican freak out over it.

Referring to trans people as "wearing a dress" is kind of what I'm talking about. Besides, lots of horny college kids can find trans women attractive without feeling it impinges on their manhood in any way. Beauty is beauty.

Any bad press is still going to be considered bad to shareholders, and shareholders will demand the CEO fix the situation. That's normal. And I never commented on the boycott at all. I could care less, it's bud lite...a shit watery American beer. I was only commenting on the
public outrage aspect.

You mean Robert James Ritchie? The guy from an affluent white Michigan family who grew up in a mansion and went to an expensive prep school, only to then spend his adult life playing the role of Redneck Country Bumpkin like it's cosplay? That guy? He's not really funny, and ripping silly comebacks on twitter is a pretty poor pastime.

I wasn't trying to draw blood man. I'm trying to be respectful while also calling out a hypocrisy in saying "get a grip", and at the same time admittedly trying to nail down if your siding with Trump has gone down in the last few years...because like it or not that man is affecting lots of people in the world, including my own livelihood on the daily, as is the party of Republicans who could hold him to account but refuse to...and everyone being affected by his antics who don't live in the states are having to just deal with the choices of the people who voted for Trump. It is what it is. If you think that's trying to draw blood, then we perceive things differently.

He came down from his heavenly mansion to cosplay as a redneck---just like Go* cosplaying as Jesus.

Or Trump. In his various blue collar outfits. Pretending to drive a truck while making silly pseudo-tough guy faces.

This is the kind of shit the Right wingers (no matter the country), Trumpers, Farage, Pollievre foment in the general public by decrying loudly a minority that doesn't affect them in the slightest.

RIP Juniper Blessing. What an absolute tragedy.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, we need to deal with the fact that with the advent of HRT making it much more possible for transgender women and men to physically embody the gender they feel born to (without the need for surgery), that we need to educate a LOT of young men on how to deal with being attracted to femininity and not biological sex. I feel like that starts with stopping the political crusade against trans people as a wedge issue, and helping people understand how to deal with the complex feelings associated with being attracted to someone who may be the same biological sex, but their preferred gender is opposite. There's a step there that these people cannot do, and I feel like a lot of them lash out at it.

I think I benefit from having lived a street away from the colloquially-termed Toronto Gayborhood, for 20+ years and always attending Pride and having a swathe of friends across the LGBTQ+ spectrum was learning and listening. Heck, the last few years at Pride MOST of my gear I wore in support was Trans-flag focused as I felt they needed the most support in the community with the recent attacks by Right Wingers and bigots, but even I had to learn things and be open to learning things about the actual Trans experience that I didn't know or understand before. That took time and I'm so glad that I had people around me from that community to patiently educate me. I feel like SO many people just aren't wiling to open their minds and so they treat the whole community like an abstract to just attack.

It starts with education, but I don't know how willing some people are to do that.

anyways, terrible tragedy and this sort of shit should not be happening, and the Right Wingers, and podcasters, and manopshere clowns have a LOT to answer for.

That's just it, ain't it. What is the 'trans agenda'? I can answer this: it's to exist without fear of having violence done on them.

All that rhetoric from the Republicans in the US and the Conservatives et al over here about 'protect our women and girls' comes crashing down when you see how many Republicans are getting arrested lately for being predatory towards children. Hell, we had it over here with that recent white supremacist march, a zealous right winger was caught on his own camera trying to hit on a 15 year old with the child's mum telling him to sod off. The threat is not coming from someone who simply wants a piss, or to go out to the shops, or to exist.

I checked the link and the reason for the murder currently was listed as unknow. Im responding to your paragraph rather than the article

There is something to what you are saying. Femininity is sexy. Whether its HRT, or surgery, make-up or a full embrace of femininity my go to reason to suspect a beautiful Instagram model is trans is when she is too perfect. Sometimes its true, sometimes its not, sometimes ill never know. That said I don't think its un-necessary information. I would feel tricked or betrayed if after 5 dates for example my partner suddenly revealed she was Trans. Maybe that deserves reflection and is comes from a deep seed of homo- or trans- phobia but my first reaction in such a situation will un-doubtebly be uncomfortable. I think also, I just would see no need to take on a relationship that would be harder than necessary than if I dated a biological women.

I dont hate anyone. I want everyone to have equal rights and a fair shot in life. My father once told me there was a difference between my apathy and my tolerance. I think about that often. I think standing by my principles and living my life, voting for fair Governments and fair laws is being true to myself. Believing Trans woman are humans who deserve respect and dignity I do no think necessitates that I must be comfortable with dating a trans-woman.

The acceptancce of trans woman shouldn't be tied to how successful they transition either, whcih i know is not what you are saying, but that aspect msut be acknowledged too.

Huh? I don't get what this is saying. A trans woman is hot but she's too hot? And you need to suspect them why, exactly? Most instagram models that are trans have it in their bio's...where are you seeing that's not the case? And again, why does it matter? Beauty is beauty.

See, this feeds into the anti-trans narrative though...

Most trans women would tell you ahead of any dates, for their own safety more than anything else, that they are trans. The idea that there are trans women out there masquerading as biological-sex women "tricking" straight men into going out with them is not a thing that happens, and if it ever does then it's a tiny fractional minority not worth notice as a dataset.

But that's literally part of the narrative to make their lives less safe, and enflame the ne'erdowells against them. "These tricksy false women are out here trying to trick you!". No. They are most certainly not.

I think it does deserve reflection, but to be honest unless you're open minded enough to be seeking any women to date (trans or otherwise) then it doesn't affect you in the slightest. And the fact that it's harder is part of the point I'm making, it should not be harder...society has made it harder for bafflingly silly reasons. If you love someone as a person, who cares what their biological sex is. Gender is and always has been pretty fluid. We just endorse more modern social constructs about what MEN are and what WOMEN are to a ridiculous degree. And I'll be real I think a LOT of it stems from organized religion, and the vice grip it has (no matter the tenets or prophets) on our society.
